I have no idea if CB is a serial killer, but an Egotistical bragger is considered one such trait common to many serial killers. The article below comes up first in google for "traits of a serial killer". To me, CB ticks a lot of those boxes based on MSM accounts.
Signs of a Serial Killer: 11 Common Serial Killer Traits
Lack of empathy
In the disturbing audio, which aired on 60 Minutes, Brueckner claims to have said if the "evidence is destroyed", he will "document exactly how they will be tortured".
"He's very, very clear about his fantasy, about abducting children and torturing them and using them for a couple of days. So these are very clear words," Hoffman said.

Lack of remorse
Brueckner was 17 when he molested a six-year-old girl in a public playground in his home town of Wuerzburg, Bavaria.
He only stopped groping the terrified schoolgirl when she began to scream and cry and he then ran away, a youth court was told.
Later, the then-teenage Brueckner 'dropped his trousers' at a nine-year-old before fleeing the scene, according to German newspaper Bild.
Brueckner, who had quit secondary school to train as a car mechanic, was arrested later for the vile acts in 1994.
At his trial at Wuerzburg District Court, he was asked by the juvenile judge what he thought about his actions and he replied: 'I didn't think anything,' according to the newspaper.

Impulsivity
The girl was just eight in 2017 when Brueckner exposed himself to her at a playground at a village festival in San Bartolomeu de Messines, Portugal.
The mum recalled: “My daughter came running and said, there’s a man, he’s showing his willy.
"I went there immediately. There’s a little house in the playground, Christian B was in it with his trousers down. He looked at my daughter and said, ‘Hey you, what’s your name?’

Grandiosity
The German detested the “scruffy hippies”, as he called them, preferring to dress in old tailored suits.
His ex said Brueckner’s only passion, besides his cars, was making money.
She said: “Other people get joy out of films, music, socialising, that sort of thing. But for him, if there was no money to be made out of something, then there was no point doing it.”

Narcissism
The man, once close to Brueckner, said he waved a legal letter over the case in front of him as if he was proud of it.
“He laughed about it and said it was a summons. He was just waving this piece of paper about. I felt like it was like a little trophy to him,” said the ex-pal.
The friend added: “He said that he went to answer the summons and he told police that he had nothing to do with it.
“I asked him ‘but why say that as you’re only a witness?’ He just said ‘let’s have a party!’.
“He told me, ‘they asked me a load of questions and I answered them’. Then he said, ‘they’ve got nothing on me. They can’t get me’.”

Superficial Charm
‘The first time I saw him, he was on his mobile phone at the kiosk,’ she said. ‘He got off the phone and said, “Hello lady, how can I help you?” I was surprised as no one called me a lady before.
‘He asked me to have a look and choose what I wanted. Then, when I asked him how much I should pay, he said, “Nothing, a lady doesn’t have to pay in my kiosk.” ’
Despite her being less than half Brueckner’s age, they began dating and Ms Miftari even considered marriage.
But about a year into their relationship, she found child *advertiser censored* on his mobile phone and laptop, much of it featuring blonde girls. Brueckner was in some of the videos.
When she confronted him, Brueckner launched a savage attack on her.

As with previous girlfriends, he turned on the charm and played up to his “gentlemanly” image.
The woman, now 45, told the Mirror: “At first I didn’t actually like him that much. I was 28, he was a couple of years younger. I knew he liked me but I wasn’t interested. But Chris could be very, very charming, very funny and very smooth in the way he talked.
“He always dressed nicely, held the door open, that kind of thing.
The Mirror told this week how the woman, who does not want to be named, said he later changed.
She claimed he flew into jealous rages, and allegedly smashed her head against a toilet wall in 2005 after she hugged a male pal. She said she still lives in fear of him now.

Manipulation
The woman said that the German paedophile would sell drugs at rave parties held by teenagers – and if the young women could not pay he would have sex with them as payment.
She told a Portuguese TV station that the women were 'minors' and under the legal age of consent.
Profilers at the BKA describe him in their report as a psychopath who is capable of anything. A man who nevertheless – or precisely because of this – had a charismatic aura and impressed the people around him. Most felt exploited, taken for a ride and cheated afterward.
They paint a picture of a manipulative narcissist who could appear charming, but was only trying to get money he would never pay back or sexual gratification.

Addictive personality
After moving there, Brueckner’s behaviour became aggressive and he began drinking heavily and taking and dealing cannabis, said Ms Oezgen, who now lives near Berlin.
‘I would sit at the kiosk all day and he would be out drinking beer and Jagermeister with friends.
‘They would come back and get drunk all night,’ she said.

Lust for power
According to the documents, Brückner entered the woman’s house at about 10.30pm through the open door of her living room. He dragged her through the house, tying her down, beating her with a 30cm scimitar, raping her, and then leading her to the kitchen where he forced her to hand over money before he left by foot, taking her computer.

The close friend told the Mirror: 'The strangest thing he ever told me was about breaking into a room where four teenagers from Britain were sleeping on the sofa and floor.
'He was naked and had left his clothes outside and he was masturbating. When one woke up and tried to wake the others up he panicked and ran out.
He said he ran naked through the town. He told it like a funny story.'

Poor behavior controls
Madeleine McCann murder suspect Christian Brueckner was thrown out of his adopted home because of his disruptive and criminal behaviour.
'They took him in as a baby and brought him up as their own. He was often in trouble and he got worse and worse as he grew into a teenager. Christian must have been 13 or 14 when Herr Bruecker, Fritz, had the car accident.
'As the man of the house it was Fritz who disciplined the boy. Christian needed a firm hand. But after the accident he could not do that any more.
'Brigitte, the mother did her best, but she could not cope with the boy and look after her husband. Christian had been in trouble and that is when he was sent to a reform school for delinquent teenagers in Wuerzburg.'

We can only go off the reports we read to form an opinion of CB and what we think he might be capable of based on how we perceive him to be. But I do put some weight behind the fact that the person who knew him best, at the time of MM's disappearance, is convinced that he was responsible.
Mr Tatschl, 46, said: 'The detectives were very clear with me from the first minute.
'They said, 'We are investigating Maddie McCann and Christian Brueckner', and I told them I knew why they were here. I was convinced it was him. I know he did it. I was living with him at the time.
'He was my best friend and he was definitely a pervert and more than capable of snatching a child, for sexual kicks or money.'
He said Brueckner, now 43, was 'definitely quite a strange character' who 'liked to brag about the crimes he had done and planned to do'.
'He was always bragging about making money. He even talked about selling kids maybe to Morocco, and I think he probably sold Maddie to someone – maybe a sex ring.
