Police are mounting a ‘significant operation’ in the next few days to try to find clues to the nine-year-long mystery of the disappearance of Claire Holland.

Detectives will be searching locations in the city centre, including in the docks, along with ‘intelligence-led searches’ in the wider city and Bristol area.

The 32-year-old from Lawrence Weston went missing after a night out in the city centre in June 2012, and has never been seen or heard of since.

Avon and Somerset Police are starting several days of searches in Bristol linked to the disappearance of a woman back in 2012.

Claire Holland from Lawrence Weston who was 32 at the time, was reported missing by her family on Thursday 14 June 2012.

She was last seen at the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub in St Nicholas Street, Bristol, the evening before.

Today, officers have released CCTV footage of Claire on the day she disappeared and say they will be carrying out several "intelligence-led searches" across the city centre, in what marks a major development in the case.

The police say they believe Claire was the victim of a crime and her disappearance is being treated as suspicious.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in 2019 and to this day, remains released under investigation.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Darren Hannant said: “We’d like the public to cast their mind back to The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, which was on the weekend of 2-5 June in 2012.

"Claire went missing the day after this significant national event.

“CCTV shows Claire walking along Baldwin Street heading towards the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub at around 9.30pm on Wednesday 6 June, but we don’t have any footage showing where she went afterwards, but staff have confirmed she did leave the pub later that evening just after closing time, around 11.15pm.

"It is possible she headed in the direction of the Fountains, near the Harbourside, but we don’t have any footage of her doing so, despite extensive reviews of more than 1,000 hours of available CCTV."

We're told some of the searches starting today will involve a specialist dive team and will initially start in the city centre, but will move to other areas throughout the rest of the week.

Trying to find so info from back in 2012.

She was reported missing around 10 days later when she failed to attend a number of meetings arranged for her.

Our investigations suggest that her bank account or phone has not been used since her disappearance.

"Claire is a keen Facebook user who generally logs on at least once a day. Her account has not been used since June the 6th and this concerns us greatly.

''They are also looking for anyone who recognises the woman from the CCTV footage.

She is described as white, 5ft, of slim build, with shoulder-length brown hair, which was sometimes tied back in a ponytail.

Those who were Facebook friends with Ms Holland at the time will be sent a message on social media and they are also being urged to call the police with any information they think would help inquiries.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder in 2019. He was released under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and give the reference number 5219172645, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their website crimestoppers-uk.org.''

Searches are taking place in Bristol over the next few days relating to the disappearance of 32-year-old Claire Holland in 2012.

Since 2019, Claire's disappearance has been treated as suspicious and a man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder.

We're asking people to watch the CCTV below and on our website - which shows Claire on the day she was last seen (Wed 6 June, 2012). The last sighting of her was leaving the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub in St Nicholas Street at closing time, around 11.15pm.

Maybe you couldn't speak to police at the time but are able to now come forward, or you have information you didn't previously think was relevant? Or maybe you were in the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub and saw Claire on the evening she went missing, but have never contacted the police?

DI Darren Hannant said: "Claire had no reason to go missing of her own accord and had made plans for the week following her disappearance. We're keeping her family up to date on our progress and are committed to providing them with the answers they need.”

I personally think the remains found in Bristol are unrelated - I cant think why the police would not link it in their new appeal otherwise

The family of missing Bristol woman Claire Holland have spoken of their heartbreak at not knowing what happened to their ‘bubbly, happy and bouncy’ daughter and sister.
Detectives suspect Claire has been murdered - indeed they arrested someone two years ago on suspicion of her murder - but for Claire’s mum, sister and her daughter, who has now grown up without her mum, there is a desperate feeling of emptiness and unanswered questions.

''After almost a decade of uncertainty for her loved ones, Avon and Somerset Police has launched a fresh CCTV appeal and will be carrying out targeted searches in parts of the Bristol area.''

''The force has today (Tuesday, November 16) announced a "significant police operation over the next few days" in connection with her case.

A specialist dive team will be deployed as part of what police have described as "intelligence-led searches", starting in the city centre and moving to other areas of the city as the week progresses.''

''The initial police appeal described her as a white woman of a small build, around 5ft tall, who had shoulder length brown hair that was often tied in a ponytail.''

''She had last been seen at the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub in St Nicholas Street, Bristol, on the evening of Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

She had spent the day in the city centre shopping and drinking, and detectives said it was "completely out of character" for her to not have made contact with her family and friends beyond that point.''

''Claire was last seen wearing black trousers and a short sleeved black top with a grey t-shirt underneath. She was also carrying a cream coloured Primark re-usable carrier bag.''

''Police are now once again urging people to think back to the time Claire went missing and consider if they saw her, or saw anything suspicious, or have heard anything since then that might assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 providing the call handler with the reference number 5219172645.''

I feel there are some underlying messages in some of the news articles that Claire had, or previously had, a chaotic lifestyle. The article above mentions rebuilding relationships with her family at the time of going missing. I really hope this was not a barrier to more in depth searches at the time she went missing
