Identified! CA - Yosemite Summit Meadow, WhtFem, 20-23, Henry Lee Lucas Victim, 1983 - Patricia 'Patty' Hicks

I'm sure has been identified and, as in WCJD's case, NamUs removed her 1-2 days after the results came in and the family was notified. Someone is being hyperactive. They usually wait until the family is ready but not this time. The statement will come but it might take a while

If she will not or can't be named I will respect that. But I think @Mrs. Badcrumble has a point. How can we be sure? Because for us WS-ers the only conformation can be through MSM or a verified insider.

And I hate so say it but if it wasn't for me at the early stages of this thread (and picked up by CarlK) she would have been much longer "tugged" away only on the Yosemite-summit-meadow website, where I found her...

What are everyone's thoughts on HLL/OT killing her? I really doubt it. The information "that would only be known by the killer" is a common theme repeated about HLL's alleged victims, but LE often fed Lucas information about the crime, showed him confidential crime scene photos, etc. Probably the best-known example was his confession to Orange Socks (ID'd as Debra Jackson) where he confessed even though a) he was provably in Florida during the time Debra was murdered in Texas, b) he gathered information about Debra's murder from crime scene photos he was explicitly shown, c) claimed her name was Joanie or Judy when it was Debra, and d) confessed to thousands of murders he couldn't have committed. I don't think there's more than a tiny sliver of a chance that he killed this Doe, but I'd be open to discussion.

Either way, I hope this Doe has gotten her name back.

Quote RSBM. That is a horrific huge deal, IMO. Not justice at all :(

100%. It is horrible and not talked about that much. I highly recommend Netflix's docuseries about HLL if you want to learn more about his false confessions and the circumstances behind them. There are also other great online resources that go into it.

Thank you for everyone's care and attention to this case. Since I am not a verified insider, I am not sure my post will stay up, but I wanted to let you know, I carefully read everything posted here while working on her genetic genealogy. Although, she did not turn out to be any of the missing persons listed here, I greatly appreciated your efforts for this Jane Doe.

Thank you so much for posting that information and putting our curious minds at rest. You do amazing work.

A forensic anthropology exam and CT scan of the victim's skull helped forensic artists create a digital facial reconstruction of what this victim of a long-ago homicide may have looked like.

Name: Jane Doe - Yosemite Summit Meadow

Location
: Yosemite National Park

Date: Estimated time of death Fall of 1981 to Spring of 1983; Identified in 2021

Suspect Info: Henry Lee Lucas

Case Info: The partial remains of a homicide victim were found in Yosemite National Park’s Summit Meadow along Glacier Point Road in 1983. Special Agents of the NPS Investigative Services Branch (ISB) worked with multiple laboratories and agencies in an effort to identify the victim. A forensic anthropology exam and a CT scan of the victim’s skull helped forensic artists create a digital facial reconstruction of what she may have looked like. This facial reconstruction was made from the victim’s skull without the jaw. Forensic Anthropologists believed the victim was at least in her late teens but could have been as old as 30. The suspect in this case, Henry Lee Lucas, was interviewed in the 1980s and died in prison in 2001. He had information about this murder that had not been made public and could only be known by the person who committed the crime. Lucas stated the victim was a female hitchhiker that he picked up on Highway 41 between Fresno, California and Yosemite National Park in the early 1980s. In the fall of 2020, ISB worked with Marshall University and Parabon Nano Labs to genotype the DNA and get a better profile to include ancestry, origin locations, as well as a better physical description for the unidentified victim. Through this process a more realistic composite photo was produced. ISB and Parabon followed up on leads by identifying potential relatives in the United States. Culminating decades of work, leveraging new technologies, and bringing closure for a family missing a loved one, this victim of a long-ago homicide was positively identified in 2021.

This case is going to be covered on Hulu's "Wild Crime" series, Season 2. The production will apparently reveal a lot of information about this case that has not previously been public.

HULU ORIGINAL - A True Crime Anthology Series
With each season, Wild Crime explores a different true crime story - pulled straight from the case files of one of our country’s least known, but elite forces of Federal Investigators: the Investigative Services Branch of the National Parks Service.

If her identity has been released on a publicly accessible Hulu TV show, can't we say it here? It's not like it's private anymore? (For the record: I haven't seen the show, I don't know her name.)
Especially given the very 1st para:

A new season of an ABC News Studios docuseries called “Wild Crime,” set to begin streaming Monday, follows a nearly 40-year-old murder cold case in Yosemite National Park and how investigators finally identified the victim. The second season of “Wild Crime” is titled “Murder in Yosemite” and is available on Hulu and Disney Plus.

ABC News Studio surely qualifies as Mainstream Media (MSM)??
