I was wondering the opposite: that CA would offer to plead guilty to everything on the condition that the state agreed not to prosecute DA and WA.

Understood. But it is highly unusual for the State of Florida, for any of the 50 States for that matter, to cut a deal to shield additional co-conspirators! Besides, that would be immoral IMHO. The objective of the State of Florida, and any of the 50 States, should be to ensure that all co-conspirators (alleged but not mentioned by the State attorneys in court papers, mentioned but not indicted, and indicted but not convicted) will be ultimately convicted!

I am not going to speculate how any State’s attorney would cut a deal with an indicted criminal (Dr. Charles Adelson) to shield other alleged criminals (Wendi and Donna Adelson). Again, that would be immoral for any State attorney to contemplate, IMHO.

I have no doubt all co-conspirators (alleged but not mentioned by the State attorneys in court papers, mentioned but not indicted, and indicted but not convicted) to the killing of Dan Markel will be ultimately convicted!

It is my suspicion that Dr. Harvey Adelson is not 100% off the hook. From start (2014) until the discovery of Garcia (2016), Magabanua, and her sexual relationships with both Garcia and Charles Adelson, the allegation and suspicion were toward Dr. Harvey. See for example the Tamara Demko’s police deposition. That is not to say he must be guilty. However. it is my suspicion that Harvey should have known, at least by the days before the funeral, but he kept quiet.

Evidences of motives and co-conspiracy point to Wendi, Donna and Charles Adelson as displayed in the trials completed thus far. It is hoped that 8 years will not pass before Harvey, Wendi and Donna are indicted.

However, if I were one of the State Attorneys, I would suggest to let the Charles Adelson trial go … all the way, before dealing further with the alleged not indicted co-conspirators! No matter what happens in KM’s post-trial litigation, and no matter KM’s choice going forward, the State Attorneys must be VERY careful that one of the not-indicted alleged co-conspirators, labeled as a suspect or not yet, will not slip beyond reach of the State of Florida.

It is my educated speculation that a) Luis Riveria, b) Sigfredo Garcia, c) Katherine Magbanua, and … d) Wendi Adelson, and e) Donna Adelson will be compelled by the State of Florida to testify and to be cross-examined, with some of them under a Derivative Use Immunity, of course!

The Tallahassee Democrat interview of DeCoste is an about face conducive of hopeful further changes such as 1) revealing who paid for Car Washes and DeCoste , 2) why did Magbanua adopt a stance detrimental to herself … etc. By the time Charles Adelson’ s trial will conclude, clearer picture of the available evidences against each of his family members will avail.

Leon Jacob is one of the most ridiculous criminals I’ve ever seen!! His trial was a laugh! Thankfully his plan did not succeed! Even his own mother was like “you’re ridiculous and I’m not going to help you stalk your ex” essentially. Actually I think the personality profile of CA and Leon Jacob are quite similar. I bet if CA takes the stand he will come off exactly like Leon Jacob and may even use the same defense as others have so insightfully suggested!

Perhaps Dalia Dippolito is the only one that can top him! That trial was bananas! All 3 times! Lol

Yup. I just posted in that thread about how it reminds me of this case. Don't forget about the wealthy ex-laws in both cases. I will eat my shirt if the ex-wife isn't behind Jared's murder.

You have an exceedingly acute observation, kooshx! The similarities you outlined are astonishing!

Her parents are wealthy owners of $100 million a year family business! Does she have a brother who staples $100 bills in a refrigerator size safe?

Unsurprisingly, she is now represented by high-powered criminal defense attorney Henry Coxe III, a la John F. Lauro type!
If the State of Florida were to pull some shadowy characters of the type of Sigfredo, Magbanua and Riveria from Latin King similar extended family, would these shadowy characters be represented by mysteriously paid Car Washes and Defrost lawyers? Amen.

One thing I already notice that doesn't look good on the ex-wife's part is that the murder occurred right after the victim dropped the kids off at her house. Whoever killed the victim knew what specific route he was taking and what road he would be on.

Yes. It is not very long (29 minutes) and he has another gentleman read the juror's answers. The juror is anonymous and it was a written questionnaire. You don't actually see or hear the actual juror.

NB - in FL nobody gets forced to testify. Two of those you mention can plead fifth amendment and simply refuse to appear.

SG has already refused to testify in his own defense as I guess it would have implicated KM and that refusal in part helped cause the original mistrial.

If Rashbaum et al run the defense I am expecting and implicate KM as the solicitor of CA she may want to testify that this is false. But there's no future in it for her as she's been convicted of soliciting murder anyway .

If you refuse to testify under a state subpoena in FL as a witness, you just get put in the cty jail for the duration of the trial.

Actually, Civics 101, a subpoena is literally a court order forcing you to testify.
WA was literally forced to testify, it went to an appeals court even.

And they don't just put you in jail if you defy the subpoena- the Sheriff will literally escort you to the stand in handcuffs if necessary, it's happened in high-profile trials before.

A defendant has different rights, but these are the facts on witnesses.

I was thinking about a deal in which the death penalty is taken off the table. But I agree that the state would not likely grant any concessions more than this; Charlie is their big fish.

Al, do you know why CA wasn’t charged with the death penalty? In reading the list of aggravating factors that justify a death penalty charge, subsection (i) seems to fit:

“The capital felony was a homicide and was committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification.”
