GUILTY MA - Colleen Ritzer, 24, brutally murdered, Danvers, 22 Oct 2013 #2

So sad. I hope they do receive some compensation that they can use to do good things in Colleen's memory.

BOSTON — Philip Chism, the Danvers man now serving 40 years to life for the rape and murder of teacher Colleen Ritzer, will try again to mount an insanity defense when he stands trial in an attack on a Department of Youth Services worker three years ago.

He will try to beat the system, trick the tester and get sent to a hospital instead of where he is....then try to get the first trial reversed. JMOO

He is a dangerous psychopath, irredeamable and should be locked up for good. He was not insane -- he knew what he was doing was wrong -- and for the sake of public safety, he should be incarcerated. JMO.

from the article ^^ in post #904

The competency evaluation, which will be conducted by a Juvenile Court clinician, will take up to 12 weeks to complete. Craven noted it could take longer than usual because the person conducting the evaluation will have to travel to the prison.

[.....]

Lawyer Denise Regan also told the judge that she anticipates filing a notice of a mental health defense by July 24 in the case

[.....]

Monday’s hearing before Judge Terry Craven came following a series of lobby conferences in the case — informal, closed proceedings during which the potential for resolving the case without a trial are typically discussed.

It appears now, however, that the case is headed to trial, with Craven granting requests to set dates for pretrial motions.

So.... we won't hear anything until July 24th?? Is that what I understand?

TIA!

So anyone in Boston know what's going on here?

TIA!

Philip Chism, charged with killing teacher, faces separate attempted murder charge

Philip Chism, a 15-year-old Massachusetts boy accused of raping and killing his math teacher in a high school bathroom, was arraigned Wednesday on attempted murder charges stemming from a separate attack on a female youth services clinician.
Prosecutors laid out a narrative of what they said was "the defendant's intent to murder" a female employee last month at the Dorchester Department of Youth Services facility where Chism is being held pending trial, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.
A judge set bail at $250,000 and ordered Chism to not have contact with witnesses, including the victim. He is to appear in court September 19 and an automatic "not a youthful offender" plea was entered on his behalf.

Wow... He's still posing a danger. Bail is not set high enough. He should sit in jail until the trial. How dangerous!

Does anyone have any information on the second trial for the attempted murder of the female employee at the Youth Center? I couldn’t find anything online at all about what happened with that case...

I just heard of Colleen's murder and, as a soon-to-be teacher, it especially saddened me :( May she rest in peace! So tragic.
