This is the time children go back to school. No doubt her children miss their mother. It's been too long, 1 1/2 yrs., a long 18 months, since Maya went missing. Her family continues the searches for Maya. They need to find Maya. Prayers for that to happen.

6/9/22 Update: Murder: The court suspended criminal proceedings Thursday. The defense attorney for Millete expressed doubts regarding her client’s competency to stand trial, leading San Diego Superior Court Judge Dwayne K. Moring to call for an evaluation of the defendant. A hearing regarding his competency is set for 8/29/22. Preliminary examination hearing on 6/27/22 has been cancelled.
8/3/22 Update: Guardian ad litem Kelley James told Judge Julia Kelety that the San Diego DA's Office would like to speak with the Millete children regarding the criminal case against their father. Judge Kelety gave James the authority to make the decision. Judge Kelety also issued a tentative ruling granting attorneys for Maricris Drouaillet permission to depose Larry Millete in regards to the custody battle over the three children. However, that deposition hinges on whether or not Millete is found mentally competent to stand trial in criminal court. According to an attorney for Larry Millete's parents, even though the evaluation was scheduled to take place in July, Millete has not undergone a mental evaluation yet. "Mr. Millete showed up for his evaluation. For some unknown reason he was not seen that day. So we're trying to figure out what happened, why he was not seen on that day & when it will be rescheduled for," said attorney Joseph Goldberg. Goldberg said he was filling in for Millete's defense attorney Bonita Martinez, who was out sick. A hearing regarding custody of the kids was scheduled for 10/24/22.
8/21/22: The family of long-missing Chula Vista mother Maya is holding another search party Sunday, 8/22/22 as part of their never-ending quest to reunite with their loved one.

Video warned of possible further delays waiting for Larry to be deemed fit to stand trial. Expect delays. Pitiful that the reason Larry is all messed up is because he misses talking to the children, and just got to talk to his parents, but all this has taken a toll on his mental health. This kind of reasoning should not be allowed, IMO.

SAN DIEGO — The Chula Vista man accused of murdering his wife, Maya Millete, appeared before a judge Monday afternoon for a mental competency hearing.

The hearing lasted less than five minutes.

"Forensic doctors have asked for a little bit more time," announced Judge Cindy Davis.
She said the doctors noted there's a lot of documentation involved in this case.

Therefore, they asked for the matter to be continued.

The hearing is now scheduled for September 26.

Back in June, Larry Millete was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation by court appointed psychiatrists to determine if he is fit to stand trial.

Millete’s defense attorney Bonita Martinez tells CBS 8 being away from his kids has taken a toll on her client’s mental health.

What psychiatrists will determine is whether or not Millete understands the nature of the charges against him so that he can assist his attorney in his defense.

If they tell the court yes, he is fit to stand trial, the case picks up right where it left off.

He’s such a manipulator IMO…

He’s such a manipulator IMO…
He's using the buying time ploy, but it could turn on him. He's giving them more time, and Maya could finally be found, and maybe there'd be evidence pointing to him, making it even easier to find him guilty. Hmm, unless he's so sure she won't ever be found? :( No matter, if he wants to drag it out longer, we can wait. It's just hard on Maya's family. They so deserve to find her and there to be Justice.

Here's another news article from yesterday, August 29, 2022.

“My only concern about this date, you know, the report the will be coming back much sooner, so this will give you more time to look at the report. However, if a second evaluation is requested, we’re sitting almost one month out, so it’s delaying the process a bit,” said Judge Davis.

Maya Millete has been missing for more than a year and a half and her body has not been found.

A new court date has been set for September 26 and those involved in the case do expect to have a final decision at that time.

This can be a painful "delay road" to endure.

For example, in following the 2020 Gannon Stauch murder case, the CO defendant has had two competency evaluations where she's been deemed competent after each evaluation. But after the defendant entered a plea change from not guilty to NGRI in early February, she had one sanity evaluation that took from February until last week for the results to be reported, but rather than the Court set a trial date immediately following the sane results, instead, the defense requested a second, sanity evaluation by their own, out of state expert. I honestly don't see the second evaluation happening before next year. I fear it will be four years before the 11-year-old victim's family sees justice for Gannon.

In other words, I think we need to be prepared that although the competency evaluator by the State is a neutral party, it should come as no surprise if the defense requests a 2nd opinion. Poor Mia. She had to live with this unhealthy, controlling behavior for a couple of decades. MOO

I’m sure being away from his kids has had a terrible effect on his mental health. After all, he can no longer control and manipulate them. It’s gotta be pretty concerning and stressful knowing that his kids can sink his ship in a heartbeat. Maybe he should have thought about that before he murdered his wife.

Larry and Leticia must be reading the same playbook.

oh boo hoo larry! wonder how being away from their mother has been on your kids mental health? manipulating narcissist.

Listening to CourtTV featuring the case tonight and just saw a clip from the DA's press conf at LM's arrest. IMO, I think there's a very good chance that LM's defense will be taking a page out of LS (Colorado) where they will attempt to incorporate the "spellcaster" behavior by LM to suggest his mental state diminished when Mia disappeared. As long as LM inches his way to acknowledge his guilt, so be it. He's not going anywhere! MOO

The LM sideshow has gone on long enough. Come on D.A., take control and haul in his known associates who might have been involved in the disposal of remains. Apply some pressure to find Maya, and let's give her a peaceful burial, and LM the sentence he deserves. Time to turn up the heat and end this repulsive sideshow. This is a waste of tax payer dollars.

Amateur opinion and speculation

SEPT 19

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The search for missing Chula Vista mother Maya Millete continues and now her family is asking for more volunteers to join in their efforts.

For Marciris Drouaillet, with the help of her husband Richard, and a team of volunteers, searching for her missing sister has become a full-time job since her sister was last seen in January of 2021.

"We're still searching almost every other weekend," said Drouaillet. "We really want to get some help from the public and the community."

I can't believe that it's been 18 months already.

:( - gosh, I hope they can find her. It seems pretty hopeless honestly and I hate writing that.

Heard something about Larry being back in the courtroom tomorrow, but couldn't find the new article. Yes, tomorrow, back in court. (MOO, he's a nasty man with a mean insecure mind, but sane and competent to stand trial.)

from 8/29/22-- Competency decision for Larry Millete postponed (but to happen tomorrow hopefully)

A new court date has been set for September 26 and those involved in the case do expect to have a final decision at that time.
