LA LA - Old Metairie, Nassau Drive Jane Doe, WhtFem 15-16, dress, heeled shoes, business cards, Jul'79

Sorry for extended absence but MrTony is in a SNF in Baton Rouge with Alzheimer’s. There are no morgue photos on the internet. Louisiana has Napoleonic Code instead of Civil Law and is a closed records state. I have the only morgue photo, thankfully only of her lovely face.

Hopefully Othram will listen. As I posted what seems like ages ago, she was interred at St Rosalie Cemetery in Kenner LA with Muhliesen funeral home in charge, the family of the former FACES director at LSU. I wonder why Mary (my former classmate) never looked into it.

Unfortunately the autopsy report doesn’t mention what type of knife used, nor what other object caused the wounds for the second COD.

I’m in Baton Rouge staying at a hotel close to the SNF, but unfortunately too close to LSU for weekend games. It appears these children have no grandparents and are prone to noisy whining, drunk and disorderly in a remarkably blissful fashion unaware that they are not the only people on the planet.

I’ll look at my Coroner’s report this weekend. Wish I could share more but when/if I hope she’s identified, I’m sure her family would not want the details made public. I wouldn’t, and I’d want Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department to do modern genetic testing on her clothing.

The Coroner’s office could do the same with the the contents of her purse, since there was a necklace in it. Why they split it that way, I’ve no clue. Thanks to all. Othram, sorry y’all wouldn’t listen to me, but let’s bring this sweet baby home, merci

I wish you and Mr.Tony all the best. So sorry.

Aww take care! It is so hard when something so difficult is happening in your life and everyone is just moving around you in celebration, with no idea what you are going through. We are here when you need a break.

Any news? Wonder how private forensic genealogy fits into the Napoleonic Code in Louisiana?
No clue but I’m thinking it won’t make much of a difference except for the lawsuit between Westlawn cemetery (where Belle Chasse UID is buried) v. State of Louisiana, not sure. I don’t think St Rosalie should be a problem. However, whether or not any personal effects held in Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department or Coroner’s office are still around, perhaps they could be tested as well in hopes to find her killer and her mtDNA.

I have my own theories and I promise not to tease: she was dressed for a dinner date? Or a rather important meeting.
Neither drugs nor alcohol in her system. No food in her gastric contents. None. I’ll look again this evening when I return home.

I haven't heard anything, but it's my understanding they are not able to disclose if they are taking a case on. Not sure why, red tape perhaps, but I believe DNA is the key to solving this case.
bbm.

This. I've suggested several cases, asking questions, etc. to Othram and DDP and been met with silence, which I have interpreted as matters they can not speak of (just yet) or promise. It doesn't mean they don't hear you, or not working on it. Much happens behind the curtains that we the public do not know. For all we know, Métairie Doe might be in the process of being worked on by the already mentioned companies or perhaps someone else.

And @Tony1902, as someone who's also been several family members' primary caretaker (many with Alzheimer's), please remember to also take care of YOURSELF. Compassion fatigue is a thing, and you are no good to MrTony if you're burnt out.

Nada.. Coroner’s office says they don’t have the contents of her purse any longer. Can’t get an answer from sheriff cold case.

Thanks for everyone’s kindness. Crossing the Atchafalaya bridge twice a week is horrifying, especially if you grew up in NOLA with streetcars.

Since she was nicely dressed and appeared to be taken care of, I assume someone was providing for her or she was working/supporting herself somehow. To me, the business cards and knocking on hotel doors suggest sex trafficking.
The brutality of the numerous stab wounds make me think it was personal.
Wonder if she was well dressed because she was meeting someone or dressed in that attire while soliciting....to look more upscale referencing the interpersonal relations??

Regarding the man whose name she had: I wonder if he told LE how she was dressed?
Maybe she had scored a connection and that was why she was dressed up? (Escort type thing)
Although he was "cleared", it doesn't always mean "cleared". It could have just meant they didn't have enough info.

With no NAMUS file, unknown body location, no DNA or dental, I can't see this being resolved. It's sad because she is so young.

I don't know.....Thinking about this girl. Just some thoughts. Taking into consideration she was so nicely dressed (never saw a picture of the clothing, but it sounds kind of sophisticated/neat) she might have been an upscale escort/prostitute or not at all. What if she was with somebody in the New Orleans hotel and she felt threatened and that was the reason she knocked on doors and f.i. said "Please let me in, I do anything you want, but let me in". Would sound like soliciting, but wasn't.

Or maybe she had a companion that used her attractiveness and her youth to get more costumers for Interpersonal Connections f.i. at the golf course. If we let go of the prostitution angle would that open the way to other leads? Pulling up her recon again. Also her hair looks neat/business like (if this is the way her hair looked) @Tony1902 does her hair cut resembles the PM picture? 1684UFLA

Have to say it: I think it's still strange that she is not entered into Namus.

Her body location is not unknown as to the cemetery she is buried at. It has been mentioned where she's buried earlier. I don't know if her grave location is unknown within that cemetery, though. I'm guessing it's unmarked. But she could possibly be found and exhumed. Was it ever noted if she had any particular accent? That might help place where she was from. She said she wasn't local so wouldn't have sounded like people in the New Orleans area.. I'm guessing the man at the hotel who this Jane Doe talked to was also from out of town.

She is buried in St Rosalie Cemetery in Kenner, Mulheisen Funeral Home in charge. She looks somewhat like sketch. Hair nicely cut & wavy. Neither drugs nor alcohol in her system. Dressed for lunch/church not an escort. Not local sex worker, no fingerprints on file anywhere. Her eyes were open in morgue photo, I showed it to a friend, a physician who said she appeared ‘stunned’ by what happened to her. 34> stab wounds & assaulted. TOD somewhat before 11 pm? I’ll have to go back to later to look. I stress again, her murderer had to have been a local because it was quite off the beaten path. Coroner’s office did not retain contents of her purse. Still waiting to hear from Sheriff’s office.
She was wearing a gold necklace, & it’s a pity that it isn’t around because her DNA, & possibly that of her murderer would be on it.

This is similar to Belle Chasse John Doe his grave is unmarked but he was buried at Mothe Funeral Home.

Circumstances of Discovery

The decedent's body was discovered in some bushes near 22 Nassau Drive about 11:30 p.m. on July 22, 1979. She had been stabbed 30 times with a small pocket or pen knife. She had been sexually assaulted and had bruises all over her body. According to her autopsy report, no alcohol or drugs were found in her system. She was described as "well dressed". Business cards printed with "Interpersonal Connection" were found in the woman's wallet. The cards had blanks where a person could hand print their name and phone number. Robbery is not believed to be a motive as there was money found in her wallet.

Investigators were able to trace the decedent back to a hotel in New Orleans.

The day prior to her death, a witness saw her knocking on doors at a New Orleans hotel. One of the cards found on her had the name of a male guest at the hotel. The man was located, and he reported the woman had come to his door and propositioned him for money, however he refused. He further stated the woman had told him she was from out of town. Law enforcement cleared the man as a suspect in this case.

Upon further investigation, no information was found on "Interpersonal Connection" or the validity of the company.
