The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is searching for Herman McClenton. Deputies responded to the area of Secret Key Cove in Kissimmee around 4 p.m. Thursday after McClenton went for a walk and never returned. They said he is originally from Eustis and was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving.

The family of McClenton – who is a father of thirteen kids – spoke at the news conference asking for the public to be on the lookout and provide deputies with any tips they might have.

"We just want him home," his family said. "He's the glue to our family."

They said this is the longest he's ever been away from his kids and his wife.

Maybe he just got turned around and wasn’t able to find his way back? It looks like a planned community.

This article does show they were at a rental, and also mentions he has dementia. Oh and also that he's a pastor. I sure hope he is somewhere safe tonight:

Eustis father of 13 missing from west Kissimmee rental since Thursday; Sheriff, family seeking public's help

The situation is getting dire for a family who visited the Kissimmee area for Thanksgiving, and has been missing its father since Thursday.

Herman McClenton, 73, part of a family visiting from Eustis, reportedly went for a walk from the home in Secret Key Cove in the Emerald Island Resort, on the west side of Osceola County just west of State Road 429. McClenton, who officials say suffers from dementia, has been missing since.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez said Saturday video footage from nearby subdivisions showed him walking behind houses, moving quickly.

I'm really glad they're getting the word out and hopefully other owners will look at their cameras. There are some retention ponds behind some of those neighborhood roads. If he was walking behind houses, I hope the ground was level so he didn't lose balance and fall.

The sheriff’s office said it is using sniffing dogs and computer technology to try and find McClenton but they now need the public’s help.

Surveillance video captured McClenton walking behind homes in Kissimmee and the family told Channel 9 News that he may have been spotted in the area as recently as Saturday night.

“He’s very strong and very healthy. On the videos, he’s moving very quickly. It’s just, he’s not familiar with this area,” Lopez said.

“He’s a pastor. He’s a good man. All of his kids miss him. A lot of us are here today. And we just want him home,” said Porter.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office released new video footage of 73-year-old Herman McClenton, the man last seen visiting his family on Thanksgiving.

The footage shows McClenton walking near a tree-lined pond and and what appears to be an adjacent neighborhood.

I wonder if he went into the brush to stay warm or take cover from the sun.

“He suffers from dementia, we suspect no foul play at this time for his disappearance. We’ve been searching with the K-9, aviation, bloodhounds; we still haven’t been able to find him or locate him. We do have some videos of him running behind houses, walking behind houses, and actually in some areas just west of here, subdivisions that are connected.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office released the footage Sunday that they say shows Herman McClenton around the time he went missing.

"We've already checked local hospitals. We exhausted a lot of the avenues where he might be. We've put out posters and flyers and still were not able to locate him, so we're turning to the public for some help right now," Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said.

Investigators say McClenton went for a walk around 4 p.m. Thanksgiving afternoon and never returned to his family.

His family is praying someone will see or hear this and help them get their loved one home.

If you know where Herman McClenton is, you're asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222 or call 911.

On Monday, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez gave an update on the search.

He said crews are focusing their efforts on looking in the area where Herman McClenton Sr. was last seen.

"We're hoping he's still in this area," he said.

Lopez asked residents in the area to check their surveillance video and inform officials if they think it could be helpful. He said this could be helpful in establishing a timeline.

The sheriff said tips have been called in but nothing has panned out.

Lopez said the surrounding area includes swamp and dense vegetation that is difficult to search.

Relatives said McClenton is friendly, but they do not want people to physically detain him if they seen him.

Family members call him a "homebody" and say he has never wandered off or gotten lost before.

Anyone who sees him is asked to take video and call police.

"You see these things happen on the news but you never think it's going to happen to you," McClenton's daughter said. "Our father is strong and he's on a mission to get back to us."

Family members say he is in need of blood pressure and epilepsy medication.

Oh dear, in need of blood pressure and epilepsy medication is troubling, @Seni. So is 200 acres of swampy area... :(

“We’re focusing the search in the area around the neighborhood where he was last seen. It was one of the ponds just a little bit west of here. And that was one of the last confirmed sightings that we see him,” Lopez said. “There’s approximately 200 acres of swampy area in there. We’ve really expanded our search not only in that area, but in outside the neighborhood just in case he’s left the location.”

Lopez said deputies were searching bodies of water in the area, adding that they have some sonar equipment in use to check hard-to-reach areas.

Clara said her father also has high blood pressure, diabetes, and epilepsy. He has gone at least four days without the medication to treat those conditions. “If he doesn’t have that, I don’t want to think about what could possibly happen,” she said.

A body has been found, not yet confirmed, but this may be Herman.

While not confirming it is the missing man, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced Thursday afternoon that investigators have discovered a body that "has the indicators" that it could be Herman McClenton, the 73-year-old man who went missing on Thanksgiving from a vacation rental home in western Osceola County.

He said the body was discovered early Thursday afternoon about a mile from the Secret Key Cove in the Emerald Island Resort, near State Road 429.

"It was in a very tough area, very marshy and chest-deep water. It's amazing a person would even get back there," Lopez said.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced Friday that deputies have identified a body that was found in Kissimmee last month as 73-year-old Herman McClenton.

Late last month, deputies found a body in a swampy area near State Road 429 about a mile from where McClenton was last seen. They also found items of clothing matching what McClenton was last seen wearing.

Sheriff Lopez said at the time they were “fairly certain” they’d found McClenton there but would have to wait for confirmation from the Osceola County Medical Examiner.
