The Vietnamese gangs in the drug trade in Canada are known to be ruthless
Quite an old article but I found it interesting.

Asian gangs pose major threat, police report says | CBC News
Asian organized crime poses a major threat in Canada because it is widespread, sophisticated and highly influential, says a police report released Friday.

Insurance fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, street gangs and sexual exploitation of children are all raised as concerns in the annual report from the Criminal Intelligence Service Canada.

"Organized crime is a very, very serious threat to this country," said Chief Edgar MacLeod of the Cape Breton Regional Police.
Asian gangs are very active around Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto, said the organization, which includes the RCMP, provincial, regional and municipal police departments, and intelligence and regulatory agencies.

These gangs are considered a significant threat because of their number of sophisticated criminal operations, influence in many areas of the country, and supply of illicit drugs to other organized crime gangs.

''A Canada-wide arrest warrant remains in effect for Nguyen, who police say is considered armed and dangerous. He boarded a flight to Mexico in Sept. 2021, police said.''

Police believe the pair were victims of a targeted attack and were killed in the building.''

While a landfill in the U.S. was also investigated, Kristy Nguyen’s body has not yet been found, police said.

Nguyen’s family released a statement shared by York police.

“How could it be that our beautiful, reliable, smart, ambitious Kristy is no longer here? How could it be that somebody chose this for her? Kristy vanished nearly one year and four months ago. Every day since has been filled with anguish,” the statement reads.

Her family shared that she wanted to be a lawyer and had her psychology degree and paralegal course, and “dreamed of completing her master’s degree in England.” The statement also added that: “before she was murdered, we had plans to meet with her boyfriend’s family to discuss their desire to marry. Kristy wanted to get married this year.”

The family said the picture shared with media of Kristy Nguyen was taken one week before she disappeared, at her boyfriend’s brother’s wedding.''
