I hope this statement now puts the focus back on finding her. I really hope she is found safe. For the sake of her family, especially her daughters.

Yes, there seems to be one crucial contradiction to reconcile.

The police’s hypothesis of the river, and PA’s assertion that 100% the answer lies in the village.

Why would she be scared? Of what? Or of whom? Real or imagined? LE Does need to look into these statements more and hopefully, if Nicola is found , that she FEELS safe!

Scared to reach out and come back home after all this huge publicity I would assume. If she has just run away imagine how daunting it would be to come back now.

I am not suggesting this is the case, but there is the possibility she got very inebriated very quickly at the bench and then stopped caring/blacked out, leaving her unable to 'care' so much about leaving the dog.
I was thinking this. You can drink a bottle of vodka in half hour and think "can't do this anymore"
Been there too.

One other general point as again I’ve seen comments about her children will read/here the information released by the police (eventually)

IF that’s IF it is a suicide, I’d imagine at an appropriate point it’s better for children to know that their mother had “medical issues” rather than them struggling to understand why randomly their mother decided to leave them.

I guess I’m in the minority but I’m finding some of the reaction to this , to use a term again “pearl clutching” .
Completely agree.

I just don't know where she would be. She did not appear kitted out to go wild camping, some nights have been freezing. Which would mean she'd need some form of shelter to survive. Abandoned buildings? Someone she knows? You'd think the latter would have cracked from the intense media pressure by now. Unless she had access to cash...

I'd love to get proved wrong. Hope I am.

I was just writing that too…I also think her own feelings/mindset might have ‘scared’ her too, in the sense that she doesn’t recognise herself anymore and might feel that it’s best for everyone if she’s not around them. Feeling guilt, for want of word, that she’s causing this. And I’m not saying she is, no victim blaming, am just trying to empathise with how she might be thinking from my own experience. All JMO
This release from her family gives me more hope she is alive somewhere. Praying for her family she is found soon

When you're menopausal you have a severe lack of estrogen which you replace in different doses depending on your needs. If you suddenly stop, your estrogen levels crash significantly causing horrible side effects like anxiety, depression, sweats and others.
I’ve done exams in it. But this is outwith the discussion. It’s be like coming off the pill.
The doses really aren’t very big.
But like I say some people are more sensitive than others.

I'm a GP. HRT can be life changing. But there is not one preparation or dose that works for all. Often its trial and error and I warn women of this. In the majority we find something that works for them, balancing with side effects.
Hormonal fluctuations at menopause can cause extreme mental health difficulties. HRT can also affect mood, anxiety, sleep etc.
Also think of premenstrual dysphoric disorder which is severe PMS. It can cause severe mood swings and sometimes even psychosis. I've known people be suicidal with PMDD.

So yes erratic hormones can certainly cause mental health problems.

When PA did the interview with DW, there was not even a mention of good days and bad days. I think one of the first words he used to describe her was fun. The revelations yesterday with the release of the information during the press conference gives a completely different picture to the one he portrayed in the interview.

In Gp checks for HRT it’s to ensure on the right dose and getting good enough effect. There’s no guidance that HRT shouldn’t be stopped cold turkey.
It can take several attempts to find the right dose as it's very individual.
My practice refers me to the HRT Specialist Nurse but you can't get an appointment with her for a month! I've had to pay privately twice because of this. NB's dosage may have been wrong or sometimes it just takes 6 months to settle on HRT & get rid of side effects.

the more I watch PF media appearances the more I feel
PF = non aggressive Ronnie Pickering

possibly PA/Family haven't thought the speculation go nuts like now forcing them to steer the direction towards finding her.

His message was clear thought to bring NB back home

Does anyone know the criteria for a police force referring themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for death following a police contact? Would the 10th Jan incident be covered in this if she died on the 27th? Normally police forces are very quick to say they've referred themselves, IMO, so it's strange they haven't added this caveat to the press release about the 10th unless they actually need a body?
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has said it has made contact with Lancashire Police regarding information made public in Wednesday's press conference.
A spokesman said it had done so "to determine if a referral to the IOPC may be required".

You're not going to want to reveal it though are you? She probably was fun when she was happy and healthy. If you think she has gone off due to some sort of MH crisis you're not going to want to reveal that to the world, I'm not sure that makes her more likely to come back. People are judgemental and no one would choose to walk around with the banner "I've got health issues" slapped to their forehead.

Yes that is very odd imo. They want to stop speculation but there are still queries over what has actually happened. Perhaps PA just doesn’t want to think the worst.

I agree with this.
There could be still hope for a resolution and it doesn't have to be public , she needs to know (if she's out there , the family seem to think so and i agree ) that there are still ways to do this.

The family said: "We, as a family, believe that the public focus has become distracted from finding Nikki, and more about speculation and rumours into her and Paul's private life.

"As a family, we were aware beforehand that Lancashire Police, last night, released a statement with some personal details about our Nikki. Although we know that Nikki would not have wanted this, there are people out there speculating and threatening to sell stories about her. This is appalling and needs to stop.

"The public focus has to be on finding her and not making up wild theories about her personal life."

I would imagine at that time when PA did the interview, he and all the family never in their wildest dreams would have thought NB would not be found at the soonest. So that was why he put the picture in mind out that all was fine in their life, as not wanting NB to come home to be told all the world so to speak knows about her menopausal symptoms and drinking problem, was aired so openly by him.

I can't seem to find a poster for her on Missing Persons, just this statement:Missing People Statement on Nicola Bulley - Missing People

Still, I'm sure if she reached out to them they'd be more than happy to pass a message on or setup some line of communication.
