Found Deceased NY - Samantha Humphrey, 14, was in the area of Riverside Park at night, Schenectady, 25 Nov 2022

Video interview with her mom at the link.

Jaclyn Humphrey said she is very grateful for the resources that police have been using to find her daughter, Samantha.

Christmas Day marks one month since Samantha disappeared. She was last seen at Riverside Park on Nov. 25.

Jaclyn wanted to clear up misinformation about this case, dispel rumors that she says are false.

Samantha’s jacket was found by Jaclyn’s ex-husband, long after police were notified. She doesn’t know who posted the picture on social media.

However, she believes finding the jacket is what changed the course of the police investigation to something other than a teenage runaway case.

As you can imagine, the time since Samantha went missing has not been easy for Jaclyn. She is spending Christmas with family in North Carolina, and plans to return to the Capital Region after the start of the new year.

Police: Search for Samantha Humphrey 'continues in intensity'

SCHENECTADY — Police said Tuesday that the department's investigation into the disappearance of 14-year-old Samantha Humphrey, which is entering its sixth week, "has continued in intensity and scope" and noted that there was another search conducted Monday.

"We’ve recently received several inquiries about yesterday’s coordinated search along the Mohawk River. The New York State Police Aviation Unit along with agencies throughout the Capital Region are partnered with the Schenectady Police Department, and we continue to request their assistance and expertise as weather conditions permit," the police said in a statement Tuesday.

“Some of the property that we’ve found leads us to believe that there may be foul play involved, but absent finding her, we really don’t know anything more than that — whether she’s actually missing and hiding or she actually fell in the river or was put in the river — and that’s why we are focusing our search on the river in case she somehow ended up in the river,” Clifford said last month.

Schenectady, N.Y. (News10)-News10 has learned that three sets of DNA were detected on a jacket which was discovered in the area where 14-year-old Samantha Humprey was last seen. Sources close to the investigation tell News10’s Anya Tucker that one set of DNA is a match to Samantha.

Sources with intimate knowledge of the case tell News10 that the results of that testing returned a few days ago and that the lab found the presence of 3 sets of DNA on the jacket. The same sources say one set is a match to Samantha and another set matches an adult male who has been identified as a local convicted felon who is said to have been interviewed by police. The third set is said to belong to a yet unidentified male.

NewsChannel 13’s vetting of the document revealed an instant red flag. The public safety commissioner named at the top, Wayne Bennett, died six years ago.

Wait...what?? So there's a memo but it's using old letterhead??

Another recent article about a local man doing river searches during his off days.

So is the PD inept and using 6+ year old letterheads, or did someone create a fake document to call attention to the SO? Honestly given the circumstances we know: physical altercation with ex, jacket found floating shortly thereafter, I'd say a stranger is the least likely culprit. Could someone want to insert a stranger into the case to create confusion or take the heat off of someone else?

Wednesday marked two months since Schenectady teen Samantha Humphrey was last seen.

There are no updates at this time, said police, when NewsChannel 13 asked on Wednesday.

The teenager got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend the night she disappeared, said Samantha’s family.

Police have been focusing most of their search efforts along the Mohawk River near the Stockade neighborhood of Schenectady.

Of course I'm as anxious to get some answers about Samantha as anyone else; but I'm also waiting to get some more info about this car they pulled out of the river while searching.

If it's been there for years, possibly decades, with any luck it may provide closure for some other case that long went cold...

Police search Mohawk River after report of body in water

He attributed the huge police presence to the prospect that the body the man reported seeing could potentially have been missing Schenectady teen Samantha Humphrey. She has not been seen or heard from since vanishing in November.

Authorities have said she was last seen near the edge of the Mohawk River at Riverside Park in Schenectady's Stockade neighborhood.

Family members confirmed to local media on Thursday that it was Humphrey's body that had been found.

Police spent months searching the area around the park after her disappearance was reported. The body was in the water in the same area.
