Anyone follow the Melissa Diegel MBP case? She was arrested by the US Marshals on a fugitive warrant a few months ago, in Florida. She was extradited to Arizona this weekend and formally arrested on 8 felony child abuse counts. Just like Gypsy, her daughters had feeding tubes and was put in wheelchairs that court papers said that they didn't need. The media doesn't seemed to have picked up on it yet.

Whoa, lemme check this out.

What really sucks is that there are some rare diseases out there that even doctors don't fully understand yet. My family has a rare genetic disease that shortens our lifespans and causes all kinds of problems and there are fewer than half a dozen specialists in the entire world. I've heard horror stories about other families whose children have the condition and how the parents have been investigated, even taken to court for MbP, because the school and family doctors don'tfully understand how the disease works. And the doctors don't always agree. So on the one hand you have innocent people getting harassed because their kids truly ARE sick and they need these treatments, and then on the other hand you have nutcases like DB.

Good point mtnlites. Prayers for your family & others who battle the same issues.

The whole case is ridiculous. Gypsy got an easy sentence. Nick basically traded Gypsy’s life sentence under her mother for himself. Her family and Fancy are trying to get Nick’s background story to make their show happen, but the Godejohns are not working with them at all. So, Fancy is going around to any connection to Nick so she can build a character story against him. They say that they want to be fair to everyone involved but she (Fancy) is just downright disgusting and disrespectful. Right now, on Facebook, she’s having a full out online Fight with one of the groups there. If you’re wanting information on the groups, let me know. I can post the links.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Who Conspired to Kill Abusive Mom, Is Pictured with Fiancé For 1st Time
The photos were taken in May when Gypsy Rose Blanchard's fiancé met his future in-laws

July 15, 2019

"Gypsy Rose Blanchard was pictured alongside her fiancé three months after she announced her engagement to him.
The photos were obtained exclusively by E! and were taken in May when Blanchard’s fiancé, Ken, met his future in-laws Rod and Kristy Blanchard. (Ken’s last name has not been publicly revealed.)

“We really do like him and we hope to get to know him better,” Kristy Blanchard tells PEOPLE, adding that they talk to him often. “He loves Gypsy very much, and you can clearly see that when he talks about her and looks at her.”

Ken and Blanchard met after Ken wrote her a letter to her after watching the HBO documentary about her case, Mommy Dead and Dearest. The couple has known each other for almost two years....

The couple will hold off on getting married until Blanchard is released from prison...."

Oh that's a rabbit hole! A really crazy couple who's children were removed from their custody in my county years ago now have a Facebook page where they rant about the government and CPS and I see they have posted about Melissa's children being kidnapped from her. But like Gypsy once away from their Mom they didn't need wheelchairs or have any of the health problems she said they did so obviously it was Melissa not that the government plotted to steal her children.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Has Called Off Her Wedding

AUG. 28, 2019

"...According to E! News, Blanchard planned to marry Ken in January, but the couple has called it off. “Both Gypsy and Ken are brokenhearted over the situation and still have nothing but love for each other,” a source told E! News. “They each intend on taking some time apart to focus on themselves as individuals.” The couple became engaged earlier this year....

No further details were given about the reason for the couple’s breakup."

Exclusive: Gypsy Blanchard and Fiancé Ken Are ‘Back Together’ After Calling Off Their Engagement

Aug 28, 2019

"Looks like that breakup didn’t last long! The same day news broke that Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her fiancé, Ken, had called off their engagement, the family reveals that it’s back on. Though the couple has decided to keep their relationship private, Gypsy’s step-mom, Kristy Blanchard, exclusively confirmed to In Touch that the two had reunited. Though she didn’t reveal what had caused the rift, she did share that the January wedding the couple planned is back on.

“They are back together,” Kristy exclusively told In Touch. “[The] engagement is on, but [they are] taking things slow and want to keep their relationship as private as possible.” The mother of three revealed that, “for now,” Gypsy, 28, and her fiancé have postponed plans to tie the knot once the new year rolls around in 2020. “But things can change,” she admitted. “And if it changes, … the rest will be kept private until they are ready for people to know. … [They] are keeping their personal lives personal from here on out.”

In July, family friend Fancy Macelli, who is chronicling Gypsy’s life with her mother in a TV show called By Proxy, shared the couple’s plans with In Touch. “They’re planning to get married in January in prison,” she said. “They’re allowed about six people. So yes, her parents could be there, his parents could be there, and maybe two other people. … [But] we’re not even sure she gets to wear a dress.”..."

I feel like this kid has been through too much. Her identity was annihilated by her disturbed mother. I feel she needs a decade of intenseive therapy before she can reasonably engage in a serious relationship.

Use birth control and go have fun. But she needs to figure out who she is, what she likes and what's real and what's fantasy, before she gets involved in something so serious.

It would be too easy for her to become subsumed by the new person.

She needs to spend a lot of time independent and making decisions for herself about clothing, food, activities, etc.

Poor thing.

I totally agree! Gypsy needs to learn to love herself before loving someone else.

It seems she wants to be loved so badly as her mother didn't give her true love. Her mother treated her more like an obsession than a daughter.

I wish nothing but the best for Gypsy. I just wish she would let herself heal before she jumps into something as serious as marriage. jmo

BIG UPDATE! Gypsy Rose will be paroled in December, after serving 7 years of her 10-year sentence. This story does not mention that she got married within the past couple of years. I wish her only the best.

The marriage ended in an annulment after 4 months. I STILL wish her only the best.

I knew she did what she did and everything like that but she was 2 me the victim in many ways and never thought she should have been in jail just saying

This was a difficult case for me. Absolutely no doubt that Gypsy suffered from mental trauma as a result of unimaginable abuse from intentional actions of her Mother but her behavior of manipulation in the relationship with Nicholas Godejohn bordered on victimizing him. Granted he is solely responsible for his personal decisions, which resulted in the death of another person but he appeared sheltered and so naive to the consequences of his actions- maybe I’m the naive one. Such a tragedy in the suffering of so many families.

[...] In one jailhouse interview, Godejohn suggested that Gypsy Rose used him just as her mother used her.

“She was brought up to lie, and lie, and lie, and lie. She was brought up to basically play the victim role,” he said. “She’s only doing what she was taught.”

Godejohn sought post-conviction relief and a new trial arguing ineffective assistance of counsel, but he’s still serving out a life sentence without parole in the Missouri Department of Corrections. [...]

[...]

Gypsy Rose, for her part, moved on from the relationship while in prison and got married.

Prison records reflect that her legal name is Gypsy Rose Anderson.

Yes so true in that sense it was tragic
