Recovered/Located UK - Cardiff - 3 Women & 2 Men Missing, leaving nightclub approx 2am, Newport, 4 March 2023

Pure speculation but perhaps the plan was to party at the caravan but all told to leave, by which point the driver, if sober earlier, could have been under the influence. Being miles away from home, the expense of a 7 seater taxi along with inconvenience of vehicle retrieval later could have created an error in judgement.

The investigation aspect, I'm not sure on the law but perhaps something along the lines of Duty of Care of site staff to alerted police or provided a taxi/alternate accommodation???
if other guests/owners reported a noise say security would have to deal with it and thats if they hadnt argued with neighbours also. Depending on what happens the Police can help to escort them off the site if needed.

6th person may have information about the driver that would indicate a criminal element to the evening.

If the driver lived they may not want their friend prosecuted.

If the driver died they may not want to speak ill of the dead / tarnish their memory.

They may also have a generally poor attitude towards the police, and not want to snitch. Such feelings often run deep and intergenerationally. <modsnip: sleuthing family>

Lots of reasons the 6th person might not want to come forward. Not saying I agree with those reasons, just that that's what could be going through their mind.

MOO.

I think you've summed it up perfectly.

I've done my fair share of pint pulling in the sort of establishment where people get very drunk at times, and get asked to leave.

It never once occurred to us that we might have a duty of care to that extent, and I don't think they do. Certainly if someone is unwell you would offer to call an ambulance, and if someone needed a taxi then you could call one (doubt that happens often now, with the advent of Uber). But pay for their taxi? Absolutely not.

Establishments have a duty of care to all their guests, but that doesn't extend to absolving guests of personal responsibility.

to be fair those girls had parents who I am sure would have picked them up had they rang them ...they didnt know the guys they didnt need to stay with them to get back from the park....the club were not responsible for them.

An altercation might explain why one of the girls left their handbag and phone behind. Her mum somehow ended up with the bag, not sure if it was left at the caravan park or somewhere else, but we knew early on she was without her bag/phone/money.
I actually thought that was left in the social club for some reason

If that's true, it would have been quite an altercation then for a girl to leave her handbag and phone behind!

Sophie and her mum spoke before she underwent surgery and was subsequently sedated.

She revealed that her daughter was 'conscious some of the time' in the car after it ran off the A48 in Cardiff and had 'called out but no one was close enough to hear her.'

She said: 'I feel terrible for the families of Eve and Darcy, they were all best friends and had known each other since they were small', adding the only people who knew what happened were her daughter and the other survivor Shane, who only met the girls for the first time on Friday night.

I wonder whether Sophie and Shane, in good time, can share the 6th person's identity with the police.

Also, how did we even hear about the sixth man being dropped off. Another story that I think was doing the rounds before they were found. So who knew about him and told the press?
Was the 6th person on the CCTV the police had?? I remember there were some questions in this thread whether the footage is from before or after the 6th person was dropped off.

I would hazard a guess that they might have been drinking as a group of six/left the club as a car of six and seen on CCTC.

The security officers at the caravan park might also have counted how many people were in the car.
