NJ- School Superintendent blames girl’s family for her suicide after she was beaten by a group of girls in the hallway of her school.

Respectfully agree to disagree at this point, as we don't know what reports are true or not imo. Jmo parents skip regularly on terrible actions of their children. They need to own it, and face consequences. Pointing fingers at schools is imo, often, a very lame, and unfair excuse, and is mostly shockingly accepted. . Jme. Not sure why. Homeowners are held responsible for all kinds of things, parents or legak guardians of children should be included with everything else, . Imo

I believe the superintendent report is legit given that it's a quote. But I also don't think anyone is saying the parents aren't partly to blame for raising such kids; just that the school doesn't get off because parents raised the kids they did. For the superintendent to blame the victim and her family for her suicide is despicable. MOO.

Bbm I agree with that completely.

Can appreciate where this theory is coming from, but to be clear demographically, this is a school district that struggles - among the hundred or so poorest in New Jersey - and statistically it’s more probable that these bullies are from trailer parks and cottage apartments along Route 35.
If anyone watched Jersey Shore years ago on MTV - the stars of that show were not from Central Regional, but the show took place in Seaside Heights, which is part of this district. Think roach motels, hair gel, just not great.
Good post. I have never seen Jersey Shore. I probably misinterpreted a post or more where it seemed like less affluent students were seeming to be pointed at for bullying, and I posted too hastily. Take care.

In this case, one of the Mothers posted proudly in FB that her daughter was a ‘gangsta’ like her. The daughter proudly replied in the affirmative.

Every kid seems to have a cellphone these days…it is not confined to the affluent anymore.

.

I have seen the names of the bullies who attacked Adriana Kuch. I am not surprised they come from broken families.

I wonder what the motive is. I would not be surprised if it is jealousy and envy as I have seen with other bullying cases in which the victim committed suicide (eg. Megan Meier, Phoebe Prince, and Brandy Vela).

I wonder if there is a motive why Adriana Kuch was attacked. I know in past bullying cases that resulted in victim committing suicide, the bully is consumed by intense jealousy and envy. They are likely injustice collectors.

“Kuch’s father, Michael, said that the attack was initiated by one of the four girls who was jealous of her being friends with another girl.”

Not surprised. Jealousy and envy can drive one to extreme evil. Seen that many times with Columbine, Sandy Hook, Isla Vista, Virginia Tech, Parkland, Uvalde, Sutherland Springs, Orlando, Las Vegas, and 9/11.

RSBM. What does needing to live in a motel (social class) or hair products have to do with how teens treat other teens?
American Psychological Association:
  • Children from lower SES households are about twice as likely as those from high-SES households to display learning-related behavior problems. A mother’s SES is also related to her child’s inattention, disinterest, and lack of cooperation in school (Morgan et al., 2009).

Rarely am I searching for the right words to address people and how I feel about them.

The students that did this to that girl are the very worst human beings on the planet. They should never be allowed to walk in any form of society. The family that raised these "things" need to be looked at under a microscope. Same goes for that Abomination of a principal or whatever his title was.

PLEASE, someone help the 16 year old BF heal.

We are ALL in trouble if the Alpha generation continues to be coddled and abhorrent behaviors continue to be normalized.

There is no hope when there is no empathy.

JMHO
Absolutely! It’s a hopeless cause when people are unable to be understanding and compassionate. These people chose to remain obtuse, and it’s sickening. My heart breaks for her loved ones.

I think everyone is capable of evil to some degree. Some people are just born evil and take it to a whole level. Just look at Eric Harris, Jeffrey Dahmer, Lori Drew, Karla Holmolka, Elizabeth Bathory, Gertrude Baniszewski, Osama bin Laden, Stephen Paddock, Jerry Sandusky, Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Epstein, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong.

FWIW, this article is in NBC10 Philly today:
New Jersey's overall ranking comes thanks to the scores it received in three specific categories:

Bullying Prevalence Bullying Impact & Treatment Anti-Bullying Laws
No. 7No. 4No. 26

New Jersey also was among the top states to appear in a key metric. New Jersey placed fifth when it comes to the percentage of high school students involved in physical fights after school.

WalletHub's ranking may not come as a surprise to many due to a number of recent high profile bullying incidents.

Earlier this year, the suicide death of 14-year-old Adriana Kuch, a student at a high school in Berkeley Township, shocked an entire community, state and region. Video posted to social media showed several students viciously attacking Kuch as she was walking with her boyfriend in a school hallway. Two days later, on Feb. 3, she died by suicide at her home.

Adriana had been bullied leading up to the assault on February 1, 2023, her family said. The gruesome attack was captured on video and promptly uploaded to social media, where Adriana became the target of more vitriol and cyberbullying.

Less than two days later, Adriana killed herself in her home as “a result of the emotional distress, humiliation, and embarrassment she experienced,” according to a lawsuit filed by her family this week against the Central Regional Board of Education, the school district’s former superintendent and others.
She died by suicide days after being attacked at school. Now her family is suing the school board
“Adriana was the light of our lives, and one year after her horrific and needless death, we are still waiting for justice,” her father Michael Kuch said in a statement provided by the family’s attorney.

“It’s clear this school has a serious bullying problem that none of the school administrators care to admit or address.”

The defendants in the lawsuit include the Central Regional Board of Education; Triantafillos Parlapanides, who was the school district’s superintendent at the time of the assault; Irene Marousis, who was the Central Regional High School principal at the time; and Darryl Heale, who was the school’s assistant principal and “Anti-bullying specialist” at the time, according to the lawsuit.

Four juveniles faced criminal charges in connection with the attack. One was charged with aggravated assault, two faced charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and the fourth was charged with harassment.
