Still Missing MA - Ana Walshe, 39, allegedly left home, may have been dismembered, Cohasset, Jan 2023 *husband indicted* #4

I read one of the articles on his background as an art forger and general man about the town.

What an insane case.

Yes, very insane case...

I was working in Boston in 2018 when the AA was filed (8 May 2018) in support of his arrest warrant and search warrants, and somewhat familiar. IMO, he pulled another con on the Federal Court right up to this arrest for murder!

Connor also said Ana Walshe told a friend she was "prepared to leave Mr. Walshe" as the family awaited his sentencing in a 2021 wire fraud case in which he was convicted of selling fraudulent Andy Warhol paintings.

During a Dec. 28 dinner with a friend, Ana Walshe was "uncharacteristically emotional and extremely upset," Connor said. "Ana believed Mr. Walshe was going to be incarcerated on his pending criminal case. Ana told her friend that she intended to relocate her three children to Washington, D.C., and was prepared to leave Mr. Walshe."

Newly-released court documents in the Ana Walshe case show that police in Cohasset, Massachusetts, received a ransom note asking for $127,000 for her return in the days after her disappearance.

A court affidavit released Friday showed that a Cohasset police Detective Harrison Schmidt received an email on Jan. 7 at 5:18 a.m. from a Gmail account saying, "We have the so named Ana walshe with us here..we had a deal worth $127,000.. she messed up..we have her here with us and if she doesn't pay the money..then she'll never be back, and we know that the police and the FBI are involved.. good luck finding us."

Following the 39-year-old's disappearance, her husband, Brian Walshe, was arrested and subsequently indicted by a Norfolk County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, misleading a police investigation and the improper conveyance of a human body. If convicted, he faces spending life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The mother of three was last seen at the family home in Cohasset, Massachusetts, and was expected to travel to Washington, D.C, for work. She wasn't reported missing until January 4, however, when her increasingly worried co-workers called the police, sparking an investigation.

The assets come in the form of a JPMorgan Chase Bank account, worth approximately $4,766.54, according to recently filed court documents, and a Rockland Trust Bank account, worth approximately $3,075.83, both linked to Walshe.

The filings are part of an art fraud case in 2018 where he was arrested and charged in a criminal complaint in connection with stealing and attempting to sell two fake Andy Warhol paintings on eBay.

In the new filing, federal prosecutors are asking the judge to add the cash from the newly-revealed accounts to the forfeiture order.

Former Attorney General and WCVB legal analyst Martha Coakley said it's not just the bottom line that's important here: it sends a message about white-collar crime.

"It says the federal government is always going to be diligent in white-collar cases in seeking forfeiture of assets," she said in an interview. "The seeking of assets and taking of assets is really the deterrent for these white collar crimes."

You don't say...Attorney General. I'm very familiar with BW's federal case and I'd say this is also for the federal prosecutors here to save face given it appears BW conned them as well per the plea agreement he secured! JMO

Scourge of the earth...

  • Authorities allege that Brian beat Ana to death because he wanted to end their marriage.
  • Authorities alleged that Walshe duped a friend from college, his dentist, and an art dealer in Beverly Hills...
  • Walshe is also facing allegations that he stole money from his late father’s estate.

Thank you for posting this, @PommyMommy!

Deep breaths, for me anyway, as the case of Ana's disappearance progresses, and more things are revealed regarding her husband's potential actions and criminal behavior.

I'm standing with all her loved ones and all here, for Justice for Ana!

The prosecution and the defense asked the court to delay the case because of the pending murder charge against Brian Walshe.

"The parties are considering whether they might agree on a proposal for the court's consideration, which might resolve the federal case while the state case is proceeding," the court document read.

Prosecutors and the defense are asking to put off the case while he faces charges in connection with his wife’s death.

The husband accused of murdering and dismembering his wife in their Cohasset home on the first day of this year and then hiding her body, which has never been found, is back in court this week.

Brian Walshe, 48, was indicted for the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, 39, in March, and was arraigned on the charge in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham on April 27. At that time, Judge Beverly J. Cannone denied him bail and set a next court date for Aug. 23, this Wednesday, a date confirmed by the clerk’s office last week.

The case has been largely dormant since that time, minus a treasure trove of District Court-level filings that were released when the case was kicked up to the Superior Court, as the defense and prosecutors build their cases.

From the quoted link:

"Two persons in the Peabody community unconnected to the prosecution of Brian Walshe contacted State Police investigators with their belief that an area of that community may be of investigative interest in that matter," spokesman David Traub said in a statement. "A search of that area by the Massachusetts State Police SERT team yielded nothing."

Tuesday's search site was between Interstate 95 and a shopping center on Bourbon Street, less than one mile from the transfer station where several items connected to the case were found in January, including a hacksaw and a rug with blood. Ana Walshe’s body has not been found, but those items have been linked to her by DNA.

During Brian Walshe’s arraignment, prosecutors said he dismembered and discarded his wife's body parts at multiple transfer stations across eastern Massachusetts.

Yes please. Bring on the DNA results.

AUG 22, 2023
According to newly obtained court documents, Walshe’s pretrial hearing was rescheduled from August 23 to November 2 as both prosecutors and defense are expecting to have DNA results from an “independent laboratory” in approximately two weeks.
