EXCLUSIVE: Brother of ER doctor found dead in Ozarks lake slams claims he was living in RV because he couldn't afford $19,000-a-month alimony for eight children - and says he kept pregnant fiancée a secret out of respect during his divorce

snip

And so the RV was situated in the parking lot of the hospital where he would be on duty - he would go there just to rest, catch rest where he could, because he would sometimes work, you know, 9, 10, 12 hours in a row.

'And even during that those periods where he was not, theoretically on duty, he could be called in and so he had to get sleep break code, so he had that RV, but he also had other homes and buildings.'

Forsyth had seven kids with his wife and one more with a different mother. They range in ages from one year old to about 25, according to Richard.

His divorce was finalized last month and he was ordered to pay about $19,000 a month in alimony and child support, with many online commentators theorizing his death may be connected to the payments.

I'd read elsewhere that John has a young child with a different mother, plus the baby on the way with his fiance. Good to see all of his children are being acknowledged.
Wasn’t aware the 8th kid was with another woman. Presumably, an additional child support payment outside of the $19k to ex wife. His personal life is starting to look a lot messier.

Sadly, for me, all of this points to being overwhelmed, out of solutions and ultimately, suicide.

I don't know what to make of it, but it seems his brother is very chatty.

No one else including LE seem to be talking about this tragedy, only his brother.

19K x 12 = $228,000. Of course this is eight children and alimony from a long standing marriage. It sounds odd to me that no mention was made of the fiancee and new child due to arrive if the child support and alimony amt was going to be too much. IMO. Could a person be this educated and experienced and not realize that divorce is expensive?

@Puzzles8 Good point.

Q 1. Has LE, either in MO or AR, asked the public to contact them w any tips or leads?
If so, was request made only before remains were located? Or since then too?

Q 2. Is Richard the brother w whom Dr. F founded ONFO LLC?
On MSM linked here, I read that [name?] founded co. w Dr. F but do not recall if it was Richard.

Q 3. Does Richard the brother speaking w media live in same gen. area of MO or AR as Dr. F (say, w'in 50 mi., as opposed to another state altogether, or hundreds of miles away)?

Anyone? TiA.

I agree, financially, suicide might have been his out. But strangely enough, LE is still investigating it as a possible homicide.
LE has stated that he was killed with a gunshot (which I read as a single bullet).

I would assume LE could have made a quick call of suicide depending on where on his body he was shot and if a weapon had been found. There has been no mention of a murder weapon being found. In fact, LE has stated almost nothing about his death. That alone seems strange. His brother really has been the only one to willingly provide any details about JF's past.
Between his involvement in Crypto, multiple children and a 'previously secret', pregnant fiance there could be a lot of avenue's to investigate. His brother also alludes to a possible unreported kidnapping last year.

At this point, I've seen nothing to eliminate any of these as a possible motive for his death.

JMO
ETA - In addition no explanation as to how JF traveled to Beaver Lake

So JR had a young child with another woman who is not his ex wife and one more on the way with new fiancée conceived while separated but still married. MOO but this feels like someone who was juggling a lot of balls - a busy career in emergency medicine, a (failing?) crypto company, a lot of children, living in different places/temporary accommodation/possible construction project if he was renovating that Aurora property, new and possible concurrent relationships, a divorce (well, technically two), financial support of 8 soon to be 9 children. That’s a lot.

JMO but he also seems to be someone quite comfortable with risk taking. Risks of ER work, risks of crypto, risks of property investment, potential risk taking around sexual relationships (just drawing on the fact he has a 1 year old and a baby on the way any day). His one year old would either have been conceived at the near end of his marriage with his ex wife or with a new partner (who isn’t the fiancée) in the year leading up to his separation - you can see how that might have led to divorce #2. And then a new baby with someone else who he wouldn’t have had a long relationship with. No judgment there but all of that is quite a risky gamble and a bit messy frankly, never mind a kidnapping. And he looks exhausted in many of the photos of him. You can see it in his eyes. I think there is a lot going on under the surface. And there has particularly been a lot since 2019, plus the pandemic and the stress of being on the frontline during that time. All just MOO.

$15,000/Mo. Payment to Ex-Wife?

First, agreeing that $15,000 monthly payment ain't chicken feed for many people, but this is not a court order for "alimony" but for division of property and debt.
IOW, the assets are 'there,' they exist, perhaps in mostly in crypto currency and some real estate (other people likely would hold most of their $$$ in savings accounts, CDs, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, precious metal bars, etc).

In a Dis/Mar. proceeding in Mo, when parties cannot personally reach a settlement for the division of property and debts, both parties must submit financial figures to the court. Judges do not pull dollar figures out of the air (or their wazoos :)).

Again, $15,000/mo. payment was NOT Ordered as "Alimony."
CT. order* was an order for "DIVISION OF PROPERTY AND DEBT" per MO. statute 452.330,** a separate issue from alimony and maintenance.***

It seems Dr. F. held the assets in his name, and for whatever unknown-to-us reason, couple could not agree that he would liquidate a certain $ amt of those and transfer that $ amt to the about-to-be former wife. Or alternatively, deciding themselves on a certain $ amt, and his transferring certain specified assets in kind to her.
Then it would have been a "one shot" deal, over and done with. No continuing payments. But w no mutual division on their own, they let the judge issue an order for the division of property and debt.

Welcoming correction, esp'ly from our legal professionals.

Certainly we do have to consider the non-liquid assets as dictating this settlement.
Really wonder what the first wife is really going through right now.

SUM OF $15,000.00 PER MONTH COMMENCING MAY 15, 2023 AND THE 15TH OF EACH MONTH THEREAFTER UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THIS COURT OR UNTIL THE REMARRIAGE OF WIFE OR DEATH OF HUSBAND.

Since 'we' are not supposed to sleuth the rest of the family, let's acknowledge that we have no clue as to the overall financial position of the Forsyth family...other than that there does appear to be some funds around them...

As for J, we don't know whether his bitcoin bonanza was closer to $1 million or $100 million.

PURELY MY SPECULATION - YMMV - etc.

Halt in video releases may be a result of him being 'kidnapped' and warned not to continue to develop/promote ONFO; he may have thought he was appeasing his attackers by not continuing, but they still considered him a threat to their crypto product (? did he REALLY have a better strategy/product ?). May have thought he was meeting with them to discuss, but they wanted him gone.
Richard said the "kidnapping" was in Feb of 2022. It looks like the final video was posted in March, after the kidnapping.

Question , the first divorce he seems not to have to pay near as much or am I reading that wrong?

@gliving Thank you for your post w link.

"Barnett had not publicly posted any images of the couple together until after he vanished, with the pair getting engaged just three days before he was last seen alive."

"The family of Dr Forsyth was not aware of how the couple met, but a LinkedIn profile belonging to Barnett shows she worked as an ER nurse practitioner at the same hospital."
Which could explain the "see you later" text, he would have seen her at work later in the day. JMO
