Sydney stabbing rampage at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley - 15 April 2024

"There are also reports of multiple others taken to hospital as a tense situation unfolds on nearby streets.

Mr Abdallah, who is a devoted Christian,
said he cannot comprehend why anyone would want to hurt him.

‘He’s a respected man in the community.
He’s loved by all of the Assyrian community especially',
he said."

Just saw the video, shocking. My son and I are due to go to Sydney CBD in a week and I'm rethinking a visit.
My thoughts go out to the bishop and the other people who jumped to assist, themselves getting injured in the process.
This happened in Liverpool. A long way away from the CBD or Bondi Junction.

Unfortunately, with this kind of thing and the broad spread of media online, the contagion effect can happen anywhere. You're probably just as safe in the CBD as any place, at the moment. This is the first of the copycat attacks. We may see more.

MOO

A police operation in Sydney’s southwest has concluded following the alleged stabbing of a number of people.

About 7.10pm on Monday 15 April 2024, police were called to Welcome Street, Wakeley, following reports a number of people were stabbed.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command, supported by multiple police resources from a number of commands and specialist units attended.

A male was arrested on scene and he has been removed from the church and taken to an undisclosed location.

The injured individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being conveyed to hospital.

Police launched a wide-scale operation a public order incident at the location, during which two police officers were injured and a number of police vehicles sustained damage.

A constable was hit with a metal object and sustained a twisted knee and a chipped tooth. Another constable sustained a broken jaw after he was hit with a brick and a fence paling.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment.

"NSW Premier Chris Minns calls for calm amid 'disturbing scenes'.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said he had been briefed by the NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb and NSW Health on the
'disturbing scenes'
in Wakeley in Sydney's west tonight.

'My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and first responders who are working to keep us safe,'
Mr Minns said.

'It’s important that the community remain calm and continue to listen and act to the directions of Police and Emergency Services.

'We are a strong community in NSW and it’s important that we all stick together, particularly in the face of adversity'.
.....

A bishop and several worshippers have been attacked in another stabbing rampage to rock Sydney.

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was preaching at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley in Sydney's west on Monday just after 7 pm when

a 15-year-old boy(!)
dressed in black

walked up to the altar and allegedly stabbed him multiple times."

Beware of video of the attack!

When police arrived, the alleged attacker, now identified to be a 15-year-old boy, had been apprehended by worshippers at the church.
The teenager was arrested and detained inside the church until it was safe to remove him, as thousands of protestors began to riot outside.

The boy was later taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he is receiving treatment for severe hand injuries.

Absolute madness

Praying for the victims of this deranged attack :(

A 15 year old perp.
And smiling after the attack
I have no words.

Sad days for Australia.

"AC Holland said at a press briefing today that
the 15-year-old suspect is

'known to police'."

Hmmm...

I'm sickened by the violence taken against the police and the ambulance service. There is no excusable reason for this. I cannot comprehend why the church congregation took such action.
