I am sure there are many people breathing a sigh of relief.

Great work, LE!!!:applause:

Now, where are the McCann's??

RCMP Sgt. Tim Taniguchi said the location of Vader's arrest will be the subject of their continuing investigation.

Taniguchi said the RCMP received more than 130 tips about Vader's whereabouts, along with another 170 tips regarding the McCanns and their vehicles.

"The investigators have some information that Mr. Vader has a knowledge of the whereabouts of the McCanns," he told CBC News.

A McCann family member declined to comment on the arrest, but Vader's mother said she's relieved that her son has been taken into custody.
Jennifer Vader said she wanted her son to turn himself in

Since they keep saying the location of the arrest will be the subject of their investigation makes me wonder if they have found something there or some sort of evidence. Maybe this is standard procedure although I hope it means something more.

The search of the area surrounding the SUV recovery site has been completed. The SUV has been examined by the Forensic Identification Unit. The RCMP continues their investigation.

Investigators still want to hear from anyone who may have seen the light green 2006 Hyundai Tucson license plate number ZPK 289, in the period from July 5th to 16th, 2010. Anyone with information is asked to call Edson Detachment at 780-723-8800 , St. Albert Detachment at 780-458-4300 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

RCMP said Travis Edward Vader, 38, was surprised by police and taken into custody at a rural home near Niton Junction between Edmonton and Edson, Alta., early Monday morning.

"He was arrested leaving the residence," said RCMP Sgt. Tim Taniguchi.

"It was without incident. No one was injured."

"This is a step in the investigation," he said. "(Vader) is a subject of interest that we believe has information on the relevant case and it is another step in this investigation to locate the McCanns."

They must have had some good tips.
He has been captured. Now, for the questions and answers.

Vader was to appear before a justice of the peace Monday to determine whether he would remain in custody.

I sure hope they can keep him in custody. Considering the long rap sheet he has as well as the missed court appearances in recent history! If for nothing else, because of that. Maybe sitting in a cell long enough will help open his mouth to talk about the McCann's.

Where are the McCann's???? Their family must be absolutely filled with anxiety. :-(

"They were very, very much in love," said Norm Muffitt, a neighbour of nearly 40 years. "They would go for walks hand-in-hand — at their age — and he would call her 'darling,' which was pretty old-fashioned."

As they usually did, the McCanns asked the Muffitts to watch their property when they left for B.C. earlier this month

So if the RCMP had knocked on neighbour's doors to try to track down the owners of the burned RV, there would have been red flags sent up long before!

I wonder if the "tips" that were published in the news over the weekend (TV's sister's supposed statement about being with him July 4th to 11th, the white mini-van sighting in Calgary), were meant to give TV security to leave the house in which he was holed up in?

Hmmm. Seems as if we already knew about this house that Vader was arrested at:

EDMONTON — Police are searching the home in MacKay Monday afternoon where fugitive Travis Vader was arrested early Monday after a three-day manhunt.

Vader, 38, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants, but police want to talk to him about the disappearance of elderly St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann. He is the only person of interest in that case.

The man living in the home, Don Bulmer, told The Journal on Saturday that Vader had lived with him this spring.

Bulmer, whose property was littered with empty beer cans and broken machinery, said that when Vader moved in he was expected to get a job in the oilpatch and only be in the house for one week a month.

“But he didn’t get a job,” Bulmer said, and he said he threw Vader out about a month ago when he “stopped following the rules.”

It is not known whether Bulmer is in police custody, or whether he has been charged. Calls to RCMP were not immediately returned Monday morning.

A woman who answered the phone at a Bulmer residence near Niton Junction declined to comment.

In a news release issued shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, RCMP said tactical officers had arrested Vader on outstanding warrants unrelated to the McCann case.
