You completely missed my point. Of course investigators and all factions of LE has the right to question families. It would be ridiculous if they didn't. However, neither Mark Furman or Geraldo Rivera are NOT investigators at this time...they are basically TV personalities, and therefore, do not have a right to question what anyone does in a case such as this.

If they had questioned the family themselves, yes, it would be wrong. But they were giving their opinions on a key point of the case, and as I see it, no different than many people have done. Were they overly critical of them? Perhaps. But it was merely what they feel, and what many people happen to agree with.
How many other cases do we see where the family has remained in seclusion and not spoken out after one time? Not many that I can remember. There could be a very valid reason, and if we knew what that reason was, we might all be less curious and more inclined to accept it. But families get criticized every day, in every case. What makes these people any different? I'm not accusing them of anything, and I don't think Mark F. or Geraldo did, either... they were just merely curious why they aren't pleading with the person who took their daughter to come forward and to bring her home.
Maybe they are talking to close friends or relatives. Maybe they're just very private people. IDK.

I think the hesitancy to put a lot of faith in them in this case is the interview with Geraldo is where Fehrman says the dogs couldnt find the trail. Now no real source is given and I dont think this detail has appeared in any legit source like a LE press release or statement attributed to a particular individual. In the TV interview he actually says something vague like "I called Tennesee and they said..." Like a state can talk?

Just two badly discredited, paid talking heads blathering about stuff just to hear themselves talk IMHO.

Will someone correct me if I'm wrong.. Inbeing reminded of the lunchbox being found 8miles from the home.. That has been confirmed as Holly's lunchbox, correct?? I, too like to keep confirmed facts separate from anything else known, or thought to be known in the case.

But IIRC correctly not only was lunchbox confirmed as Hollys but that the lunch her mom had prepared and packed for her that very morning was still found inside the lunchbox. Is this correct??
TIA!!

Your recollection is correct SO. Definitely confirmed as Holly's lunch by her mother who packed it.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mother's!

I haven't posted in a few days but have been reading and following this case since day one! I am still thinking that the person that took Holly is someone that everyone knows and trusts, or totally not at all. The one thing that keeps coming to mind is the "Worlds Largest Coon Hunt Festival!! This was held during the weekend before Holly went missing in Parsons, TN. Was she there? Did this person see/meet her there? I don't know! One thing I do know, one of the members here (a local) did state in an earlier post that there were thousands of people at this event! That in itself is horrifying! Another thing that eats at my mind is the fact that there was a car found that very day with a warm engine, located with camo and a cell phone in view. LE said it was nothing, just a hunter in the area? I am going to search for this info, but I know it is there somewhere. Do what? Why on earth did they let this person walk? Is he a trusted neighbor? He would never have done something like this? Excuse me, but my mind goes into overdrive at times!

Re: The discussion arising from the Fox aired Geraldo and Mark Furhman show where Holly's case was discussed at length..Specifically on the topic of Holly's family not speaking out nor being vocal in the media..which IMO no one on that specific show was pointing fingers at the family but rather only covering all angles as well as discussing a very real, very valid point that has been the very question that many of us have thought for some time now.. Again, that does in no way mean that a finger is being pointed at the family but rather only questioning something that is an odd occurrance in a situation such as this..just as someone upthread has already listed numerous cases that many of us have followed if not here on WS then followed in the media throughout the course of the investigations through to the very end result[no matter what that end result may be]..

And no matter what each of our opinions are as to the family's choice to continue to remain mum it is nonetheless proven to be odd and/or very different than what is normally seen in cases just like Holly's..

I do not know their reasons and possibly are quite valid but not only Geraldo, Mark Furhman, and many of us here wonder why and/or wish for it to possibly different but there are also statements from fellow parents of missing and abducted children that not only know exactly what it is to be in the Bobo's shoes but are also reaching out to them and asking that they speak out..Below is a quote from one of those parents as well as the link to more of her words to the Bobo's as well as her daughter's abduction story..

She needs to beg for her child to come back," Maxwell said. "I know she's got some bad news that her daughter's missing but there's always a chance....there's always a chance."

Do we have anymore info or news yet on the body recovered from Cumberland River in Nashville?? I will not feel at was until we know it's not Holly( tho as someone mentioned even if not Holly still this person found is someone's child, mother, sister, brother, etc and makes the loss of life not a bit less for their family and loved ones on this Mothers Day)..

But back to the possibility of it being Holly and that the perp wouldve had to drive a couple hours to dump.. ITA with norest4thewicked's thoughts on Nashville IMO BEING CONSIDERED PART of the area. I feel that the distance east to Nashville as well as the distance west to Memphis are both not huge or great amounts of distance when speaking of a small, rural town especially. Nashville and Memphis both would be the nearest big cities with alot of ppl from Darden area and others traveling to either of the cities quite frequently for things such as shopping, dr visits when a specialist is needed, as well as for weekend entertainment. Being from Memphis these distances are not considered great in the very least bit and with hubby being trainmaster for RR here in Memphis he has about 20% of his crew workmen that live in areas in and around Parsons with some living even further east of Parsons.. And these men commute back and forth by both car and train on daily basis for their jobs and have for many many many years..

So I definitely agree that to travel the distance to Nashville to dispose of a body is nothing anyone in these areas would think twice about doing(as in no big deal whatsoever)..

But do we have more info yet on the body? Am not home yet and posting via mobile(yuk yuk) so not able to google around and look as easily at this moment.

TIA TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS :)

Update on the body found in the Cumberland River:

This article from an hour ago says it is a woman, but the body has not been identified yet. No other details.

Why would a perp necessarily have to take a victim to Nashville/Memphis? If you're familiar with the area you might think just the opposite direction towards Knoxville and the Great Smokey Mountains. The woods are a heck of a lot more dense there and more places to hide. Why did everybody get on the bandwagon thinking Nashville? Just asking.

I hate to say it but i fell that the body they found is Hollys But I'll pray otherwise

Not too many perps are going to drive a body into a heavily populated area, to dispose of it. Plenty of good places, one would imagine, more directly at hand, in a thinly populated region. Why would anyone take that risk?

Why would anyone kill another human being ? There's no
Logic to evil

My guess is the perp was long gone before le was even on it

Actually - unfortunately - there is much logic in a well-planned crime.

If this were personal as many are saying and directed specifically at the family it's plausible Nashville could be used to make a point. There is a family connection to the country music capital of the world.

Either way someones daughter, wife, sister and loved one is found and going home.

Chances are it's not her but that doesn't really matter it's a tragedy nonetheless.

EDIT: It's a drive but it's on the main interstate and on the way to other places like Kentucky or Alabama

True, it usually works the other way. It's still possible that it was someone from the Parsons area who had moved to the Nashville area for work, or just wanted out of the country. After taking Holly they just drove where they were also familiar, especially to evidence cleansing water.

Wasn't there an article a few days ago that said 30 investigators from Nashville were helping with the case?

Because a woman's body was found last night in the Cumberland River and they said "it had been in the water for quite some time." We only have one other missing woman here in Nashville (Shelley Mook) and she has been missing for several months. It was just a natural progression in the discussion since we are so close to Parsons. I pray that the body is not Holly's. But, it is someone's mother, sister, wife, or daughter....

Or maybe all of the densely populated areas they are familiar with were being searched. There are many backroads to get to Nashville and who'sto say the area they dropped the body in Nashville wasn't densely populated. I mean, I doubt they went downtown and did it.I lived inNashville and there are all kinds of little hidey spots near the river.

Thanks for asking as somehow the entire discussion where the cities of Nashville and then Memphis even came into play have somehow been completetly misconstrued..

Of course I can only speak for myself personally and what was meant by my part in the discussion regarding Nashville and Memphis..But in finding out the news of the woman's body being found by the dive team on the Riverfront area of Nashville in the Cumberland River there was obvious discussion about the possibility of could this be Holly? There were several of us from Tennessee that were simply giving our perspective of the true nature of the distance one would travel from Parsons to Nashville to dump a body..Some then commented on that distance In their opinion being too far..I simply put into perspective that both big cities on either side of Parsons[Nashville and Memphis]that they were not seen as great distances to those here and that I personally could attest to RR workers who take the daily commute from Parsons and even further east to Memphis everyday and have for many years..

This is all was simply discussed when talking possibilities..some thought the distance was too far and I simply gave a local perspective that showed otherwise..

Noone to my knowledge[but certainly not me personally] ever attempted to claim nor even think that the perp would or did take Holly to either of this cities to dispose of if she infact were deceased..

So that is what was misconstrued and hopefully I've explained well enough that this misconstrued notion was not accurate as to what was being discussed pertaining to Nashville or Memphis..

Hope that Helps!

The fact that it was floating would make me think what they're saying about it being in the water for awhile is right. It's possible it's a homeless person or was dislodged by the recent rains. Either way some closure for a family.

Can I ask if you were going to travel north into SE Kentucky would you go through Nashville? What about to Alabama? Obviously if you were going east you'd have to run that way or down into Georgia.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions at this point because a quick search of the Cumberland River and body found a lot of references over the years. Many suicides among other things.
