Good afternoon all!

First time posting, but I have been following along here from the beginning. First time on this website as well! Just wanted to give props to everyone here dedicating their time and suggestions to learn more and give insight on to what is happening. Such an unfortunate situation and am glad that the justice for Michaela has begun. Thanks for inspiring this newbie sleuther! Keep up the good work!

I would have to think that "Advice of Rights" would be that his Miranda rights were read to him. Which would make you aware of your rights as a US citizen. Possibly if they needed to question him the future.

I would argue that there is no evidence of him improving on his crimes, if you consider Mickey's murder was pretty much a 'how not to do it' guide, and so I don't see anything street savvy. Most viewers of CSI and Law and Order know much more, not to mention most convicts. Unintelligent, disorganized, impulsive would seem to be characteristics that are actually demonstrated in the things he has done.

Montjoy, I honor your opinion, yet respectfully disagree.. To understand the artist, you must first look at the artwork.. To underestimate a predator can lead to tragic consequences.
Time & time again we see sexual predators/serial killers with low, to very low IQs evade detection & arrest for decades..

Imo, tier 3 RSO Serial Killer BS Lavergne, may have remained stealth for years or even decades if not for Mighty Mick's courageous fight, an aware citizen's tip, and the LPD's textbook investigative and prosecution
strategy by the DA's Office. ...BSL, had evaded arrest in Lisa Pate's murder for 13 years...that speaks volumes, imo..

Have they ever caught the person responsible for the Jennings 8 murders. I know they were prostitutes .....but i'm not familiar with the dates they were missing and killed. It's just that if BSL called escort services....it might be close to the same thing. JMO Is Jennings anywhere close to his hunting grounds?

Well, I know that a lot of folks think Brandon had no remorse, and used revealing Mickey's location just to save himself.

Reading what his defense attorney says, it sounds like that he convinced at least his attorney that remorse was a factor in the revelation. Now of course, he could have fooled his own attorney; we don't know the tone of the discussions.

It makes me think of what he thought when he saw the massive community reaction. I'm sure it surprised him, because it sure was a full-court press form family and friends. I'll venture that this full-court press did indeed affect him.

If you think about it, he would have felt differently had Mickey's disappearance just faded from the news, and so he didn't have to constantly see it. Imagine how many flyers he saw. They were unavoidable. Imagine how he felt each time he saw one. It kept it fresh in his mind, and didn't even allow him to compartmentalize it and forget about it himself. It put the family's pain in his face all the time.

From what I've seen of Brandon, he seems to snap. Both in the case of the assault on his wife's cousin, and Lisa Pate, it's a sudden rage. Some people are like this. I'm not trying to make excuses at all; what I'm saying is that it's possible that Brandon has his rages, and then returns to a calmer state of mind, and can't undo what he did. If this is true, then he had enough time to return to that state of mind, before his arrest and then after, that indeed he may have regretted to some degree the pain he had caused. Killers are complicated, and I do believe that some are just emotionless machines, like Derrick Todd Lee, and like Charles Manson, while others have a classic homicidal rage.

We don't know enough to tell, but it is interesting to me that his attorney maintains that remorse plays a factor. I hope that he wrote a sincere letter to the Shunicks. I also understand that they probably are not emotionally prepared to read it, because it could go either way.

"From what I've seen of Brandon, he seems to snap. Both in the case of the assault on his wife's cousin, and Lisa Pate, it's a sudden rage."

That's why he is where he is now. That's why there are bars in jail!

BSL is a very unlikely suspect for the Jennings SK. For the most part, those murders are all related to the same circle of drugs, crime and corruption.

I just got back from a lunch where I asked US Senator David Vitter what he could do to toughen the laws on RSOs and what I could do. He said that the laws are in place but he feels that enforcement and verification when released needs to improve. This is on the state level. Awareness of where they are located especially by schools and day cares. Back ground checks for employees.

I am thinking about BSLs glowing recommendation letters from when he was in prison for 8 years and let out 2 years earlier than his sentence. I am thinking about a warrant for domestic abuse that could have added years to his sentence that was dropped. I am thinking about how a Jefferson parish sheriff deputy was taking a statement of a RSO with stab wounds and a crap story and let him leave without further investigation. I am thinking about how this monster went for his RSO verification days after the attack with new wounds and a truck that was in the news for a kidnapping and let him leave his office. WTF?!

I want names and heads to roll....

BL ~ I wouldn't count on David Vitter for any new ideas, much less laws. If he ever had an original thought, it would die of loneliness !

He is a classic psychopath & sexual predator--he needs to maintain his facade of normalcy--and seeks acceptance by his human community in his convoluted psychology--dupe and manipulate--but it is all about him--always--and all of it would be directed toward the goal however impossible now-- so that he could hunt & kill again. His letter to the Shunicks is an outrageous invasion of their grief and privacy. I do not believe in rehabilitation of this kind of predator--or that this is justice--or that the story he told is all of it.

What rage could he have been feeling when he saw Mickey on her bike and decided to hit her. He didn't even know Mickey . He must have had something on his mind to follow her and hit her off of the bike. And i don't think rage was his frame of mind.

If he was looking to get an "escort" I think it is fair to conclude what was on his mind.

In this rare instance, I agree with Mr. Vitter. The laws are in place; enforcement is the key.

There was also a plea deal involved with this case as well. 13 years ago rape was not dealt with the same way it is today yet the detectives in their initial report felt that she was not telling the entire story and asked her mom to see if she would open up to her. That is very telling to me that the detectives then felt that strongly about it.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same things here or not. I have no doubt the detectives in that rape case 13 years ago felt that strongly about it. My only point was that pleadings filed with the Court are always bland, generic, sanitized, little in the way of facts, however you want to say it. Investigator's reports will contain much more detail. Just as with the case 13 years ago, I suspect the investigator's reports in Mickey's case contains a lot more detail than what is found in a pleading.

BS Lavergne is a predator. Mickey was his prey. Mickey was just an object of his desire. The rage comes in when he is denied his acquisition. JMO

Ahahaha. I love that last sentence.

Thanks GulfCoastKat ~ Actually this is not original to me. I heard Johnny Carson say that at one time, and I believe it so succinct / perfectly descriptive !
DV is so ANTI and has never added anything positive to the legislative landscape. A non-contributor.
