Just saw the commercial for the "World Premier of Prosecuting Casey Anthony" Airs Sat. Jan 19. I shuddered.

I respect Jeff Ashton and the entire SA team but I am not going to watch the movie. It goes beyond sad that Caylee's life was brutally cut short and her grandparents deemed her death so inconsequential that they lied and deceived in order to protect the child's killer. How can any human being not want their grandchild's murderer held accountable? It is unfathomable. I hope those who watch will report here on the movie's accuracy, etc., because I cannot watch--I just cannot relive that farce of a trial and travesty of a verdict. Seeing it once was more than enough.

Popping my head in to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy 2013.

I can't believe that we are still awaiting some form of justice to be handed down to ICA, but I am certain that it will arrive.

Sorry for the OT

I hope I'll be able to watch it...for Caylee. :(

Happy New Year, everyone.
May the New Year bring health and happiness to you all.

I am familiar with this kind of research, not first-hand, but by having read about it. I totally can see it in many people, even myself in some situations.

It is human nature to desire the company of other humans, and the best way to ensure you have that is to do whatever it takes to fit in. We are conditioned from very young ages to conform rather than chart out own course. Example of that might be a middle-school girl who feels her life is over if she does not have the same shoes, or bag, or jacket (or whatever) as her classmates.

Most people will hide their true feelings at least some of the time, depending on the situation and if that is what it takes to fit in with a given group. I highly respect any individual who is not afraid to stand alone in their beliefs because that is an extremely difficult thing to do in most circumstances.

While in most circumstances that we as humans find ourselves in day to day, a decision to run with the pack rather than stand alone is not going to harm anyone, there are situations where it may and often does have a negative affect. Jury duty is certainly one such situation. We hear of hung juries where there is only one holdout, but more often than not in such cases the last juror still standing up for what they believe is swayed to run with the pack (change their vote). Two holdouts can also be swayed but it takes a bit more effort to do so because two holdouts will take strength from each other (that whole strength in numbers bit comes into play here).

I believe there were holdouts on this jury at the end of deliberation day. After the initial vote which was IIRC 7-5, any jurors against the death penalty whittled away at those who were convinced of guilt.

The verdict did not have much if anything to do with lack of evidence or the state not proving their case. It was more about personality types in the deliberation room. The stronger personalities were able to persuade the weaker personalities. Had the stronger personalities been on the other side, they would have persuaded those voting not guilty to change their votes to guilty.

Jurors can claim insufficient evidence all they want. But the truth is, there were some who knew there was sufficient evidence, because they initially voted guilty. I do not think they were really ever convinced that they were mistaken; I think they simply conformed because it was the easiest and most comfortable thing for them to do. This tragedy did not happen to anyone in their family so it was not as important to them as being labeled an outcast in that little group, IMO.

i agree with this and i think the pro ICA, strong jurors (at least one) was signing through facial expressions with ICA during the trial..i saw her react to it the day b4 the verdict...it was clear what was happening....

I suspect there will be a great deal of inaccuracies and - let's say - liberties taken, for the sake of a good screen play. It's expected. I have yet to see a single movie that is truly accurate, other than Godspell, which was taken word for word from the Gospel According to Saint Matthew. But that sort of text really lends itself well to music, what can you say, nothing Jesus ever said wasn't interesting.

I was here for the full four years too, but I have every intention of watching the movie. I get everybody's personal reasons for not watching it, as much as they don't make any sense to me at all, but I'm definitely watching. I'm a movie buff.

Other movies based on true crime: Goodfellas, Bonnie & Clyde, Casino, The Zodiac Killer, The Green River Killer, Citizen X. Those are just what I can think of at this very second. Somebody dies in all of them, unfairly, unjustly, brutally. But I still watched the movies, and nothing bad ever came of me watching them. So, I'm still watching, inaccuracies and all.

In case anyone missed it the first time around, The Newsroom is running on HBO tonight starting at 9pm with Season 1 Episode 1. The Blackout episodes (Parts 1 and 2) make great reference to this case. It's a brilliantly written show, and worth the watch.

Happy new year fellow WSrs. Havent been on much. Not even Twittering much. I am trying to disconnect from negatives. New years resolution sort of. But on my twitter timeline i saw some kind of boycotting vs supporters crapola, and it seemed JB Had an upcoming interview with Aphrodite Jones. Also rumor of book deal for FCA? no idea if fact or fiction....just wondering if anybody else had seen anything?

Anyway...hi to all and i do slip in and read occasionally. I just think FCA wasted way too much of my valuable time!!! But this is a hard habit to break..completely!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I think you're right about watching it, lots of movies are made from crimes. I have watched many myself :D I wont be watching this one though for the simple fact that I have "seen" it already KWIM?

I do know what you mean, but my point is... it's a 'movie'. It's Rob Lowe, a tremendous actor of our generation (well, MY generation, haa) playing one of my personal life heroes on the big screen. Ok small screen. But I wouldn't miss the chance to see a movie just because I know the true story. I grew up near Flemington, NJ where the Crime of the Century took place, the Lindburg baby kidnapping. I know the facts inside and out, and yet I'm still drawn to any movies that any references to it show up in. I'm curious to see what they do with George and Cindy, too. I don't know, I guess I just don't get the mentality of 'I owe it to Caylee not to watch it'. Not that anybody's said that specifically, but that just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. It was one of the biggest cases of this decade, and as a culture that's what we do - we make movies about big things.
.
Anyway, I'm dropping it now. I can be a real blabbermouth about nothing.

:seeya: Hi, peeking in to say Happy New Year to all. I didn't sleep on Sunday night so was in bed when everything chimed.:floorlaugh: I hope this is a good and healthy year for all, sees something for you know who!! Take care my friends. Nore

First and foremost, Happy New Year!!!

I will be watching the LMN's adaptation of Jeff Ashton's book. The book was dedicated to Caylee so that no one forgets and I believe that carries on to the actual film made from this book. I personally feel like I have to watch it. The same way Jeff wanted to make sure no one forgets Caylee, I don't want people to forget this great miscarriage of justice. This movie needs to be a success to show the murderess that we will never forget that she got away with murder. I hope it is so successful that they play it over and over and over again. It should be played numerous times on specific dates! August 9th of every year. December 11th of every year. June 16th of every year. Whatever the date she was found not guilty (I don't recall the actual date because it's a big blur) of every year. Casey's birthday. Cindy's birthday. George's birthday. Lee's birthday. Hell, play if every day of the year so that the murderess never gets a moments peace!

On that note, I do understand why others will not watch. I will be happy to give everyone a long synopsis of the film once it airs. I could even put it into screenplay format (it would take a few weeks) for anyone who would like to read it instead of watch it. Just let me know!

BBM There have been rumors of Casey's book deals since she was released from jail. I dare someone to give her a deal and make it public knowledge. IF there is any such deal, they are in for a world of hurt. Oh, and pretty please do some public book signings with lots of advertisement so I can be there to clock her upside the head with a hard copy. :furious:

Speaking of, since I never bought Jose's book or even kept up on sales, does anyone have a rough number of books he actually did sell? I'm asking this because there is a big difference in someone buying a book written by her lawyer and buying a book written by her. Whatever amount of books Jose sold, I would say Casey would sell only 5-10% of what he did.

My plan is to not watch the movie but that might change if some reviews appear here that convince me. I am sure it will air numerous times this month and maybe numerous times in another few months.

I would be interested in a synopsis of how Nunez portrays JB because I saw a very brief vid interview with him shortly after he accepted the part and he clearly is not a JB fan, and even more clearly does not believe justice has been served.

I have no stats but my guess is he sold a baker's dozen to strangers. The rest were bought up by BW's show (and the majority of those likely ended up in the trash, unread) and JB and his cronies. JB's book sales are of very little import. KC's would be even less so.

BBM Yes, I remember that interview. It's going to be interesting to see how he does playing a character he so obviously despises.

I am very interested to see if they are going to have the scene at trial where Casey completely loses it and looks like she is going to kill Jose right there in front of the whole courtroom.

That very moment was the moment I saw what Caylee saw the last few seconds of her life. Watching it made me shudder! She even grabs her neck subconsciously. A move that symbolizes blocking off the airwaves to a person's breathing.

I wonder if Jose has watched the replay of that moment and seen that Casey, in that moment, proved to the world (the jury was out of the room at the time :banghead:) that what they were watching happen was exactly what was capable of murdering Caylee. That she, in that moment, if she wasn't such a coward and was putting on a show, would have attempted to kill him that very moment. In that courtroom. In front of everyone. I hope that one moment haunts him for the rest of his life. I hope that he knows just how capable Casey is of murdering again and that he is responsible for it. He thinks that Cindy, George, Lee, etc... had to walk on eggshells? Huh! She is even worse now that she has been set free. Mark my words.

I do not believe JB ever thought Casey was innocent. I think for a while he might have thought there was some kind of accident but I have no doubt he knew from the beginning that she had killed her daughter and hid her body and then lied about it over and over. He knows she did this. All her attorneys know it. Their continuing to claim she is innocent is just a convenience. Their partying after the verdict was because they won and had absolutely nothing to do with their believing justice was served.

Each and every one of her defense team would have to have their head in the sand to not know that Casey is capable of murder and did in fact murder Caylee and toss her body out like garbage.

The sad truth is that in July of 2012 that book made New York's best seller list. The electronic copy did, not the printed one. I believe it was number 9 on the list. Let's be honest - there are many people here who read it, too. We are all (in one way or another) contributing to the fame and success of her dirty defense team. As long as we continue to read about the case, they will continue to make money on it. Sad but true. I heard somewhere that any publicity is good publicity - seems to be working out for the defense team. They all must be super popular and their filthy business must be through the roof.
