I was disappointed with her. I was expecting more. IMO, Dr. DeMarte sounded like she was reciting straight out of her college texts. She gave me the impression that she used alot of her tools (tests) on her clients but I did not get the impression that she did much acutal therapy. I don't know anything about the kind of work that she has done but it sounded like she was just evaluating people to "get them through the system". CPS, prisoners, low income people, disability claims. :moo:

Evaluators are not supposed to provide therapy - it is considered unethical.

The highly competent clincal psychologist employed by Arizona knows about what she speaks. She helps me understand Jodi a lot better, for sure. Makes mean lean further toward guilty of 1st degree.

I've found JA's stories unbelievable, but I'll admit, I'm a softie. Perhaps many of those coincidences are just those, coincidences. After all, we are talking about death penalty, to which I am opposed. JA's DT hurts immensely, but I've tried not to hold their incompetence against her. And, knowing quite a lot about the brain, I do find it extremely difficult to believe that TA was shot in the frontal lobe first, because he would have been too stunned to do anything for quite a while like go to the sink or move down the hallway. In that I agree with the ME. JA could have just finished him off in the shower with the knife. And knowing quite a bit about episodic amnesia, I totally don't believe that JA's "fog" set in and cleared with precision, like the curtains on a Broadway play. And, her voice tone during her discussion of the "fog" is weirdly rhythmic and matter-of-fact, like when she "called" TA from Nevada after she had already killed him.

But, what makes me ABSOLUTELY convinced she did it was her mother's interview with Flores that I recently saw on YT. It just pains me as a parent and I feel so sorry for the mother. But, after the mom heard about TA's death and with JA wailing in her house, the mother got the courage to ask JA whether she was in AZ, even though JA had previously told her that the trip was only to UT. Her mother's asking is itself quite gut wrenching - it's almost like she doesn't rule out that her own daughter is crazy enough to be a murderess.

But, then, according to the mom --- JA tells her mom that she wasn't in AZ because SHE HAS THE RECEIPTS TO PROVE IT.

Gosh darn it. That's it for me. Gas cans, receipts, Tesoro, WalMart, upside down license plates, everything. Total BS. No question. JA had already fully thought out her alibi and she used it first, of all people, on the one person that should have loved her the most and had absolutely no question about it at all --- her own mother. Pathetic. JA should be toast.

I'm still catching up, but I like this expert witness a lot. She seems credible, well spoken, and answers appropriately to a yes or no question, which is a breath of fresh air. I have read comments on youtube about her being "green" compared to the defense's experts, but that really isn't a concern for me. I think her recent education is a plus since she's completely up to date on the issues of her field and she certainly seems have a decent amount of experience. I love the way she explains things clearly, directly, and in a brief understandable manner. I also love the way Jodi refuses to look at her. That tells me she's doing her job super well and Jodi knows it.

I'm rewatching JW cross Dr D. on her compassion. Is it possible she's this daft? I want to scream right now. Do you have compassion JW? Do you hug and apologize and put up bail for your clients? Do you send them xmas cards? Do you cry yourself to sleep worrying about the poor battered girl in the county jail who's going to death row? Does your MD start to cry before reading your abnormal lab results to you? Does your Dentist give you a big hug to calm you before replacing a crown?

DR. D wouldn't have chosen the profession she did if she didn't have compassion. PLease tell me the defense isn't going to waste cross trying to impeach the witness that brought to light all the secrets their witnesses were too compassionate to acknowledge.

The DT has allowed their client to wallow in prison without therapy. That's akin to allowing her to wallow away with a lump in her breast or with a purulent wound. Way to protect their innocent until proven otherwise, clients best interests. Great compassionate lawyering there!

Watching the last segment of Juan's rebuttal with Dr.D. ... This expert is incredibly educated, articulate, knowledgeable, and moves as fast as Juan without skipping a beat. She never stutters or stumbles and she answers every question with precision and accuracy. She is awesome! To be able to answer questions in a context (this trial) with such fluidity is amazing! She's a perfect match for Juan because she can move as fast as he does but with clear, concise explanations for the jury! True anti-thesis of the previous "experts."

I agree that she's awesome!!! Interesting to compare her to Dr. Samuels and his fumbling around with his paper work. I'll never forget the image of JM putting sheets of paper from a legal pad on the overhead with the answers to Jodi's test questions administered by Dr. Samuels instead of having her answers filled out by her on a form, :floorlaugh:

This is my first trial here, so please forgive me if this is something every one else knows. What are the attorneys sliding back and forth on the ledge at the Judge's desk when they are having sidebars? They seem to be moving it in front of themselves as they speak.

I've wondered that myself lol! It almost looks like they're pushing the dust back and forth. Welcome to WS!!

:seeya: GAMom13! I saw someone here at WS post that it's some kind of white noise maker... keeps them from being overheard by others in the courtroom.

I totally disagree.

Gosh, and MOO, but she LOOKS an awful lot like JA. In a prettier, less creepy way.....but facial features, coloring...... Yeah.

MY DH, who doesn't keep up with this stuff -- unless he is here in the room with the TV and it's on... -- said the same thing, Knot. I kinda hemmed & hawed, not wanting to admit it, but you & he are both right. There is a similarity there. Ewwww for the poor Doctor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note to JW: As the Doctor said, the extra year or so of study -- called a Fellowship, is a very coveted position. It allows the Fellow a more concentrated study of an area in his/her field, working with/under a noted doctor who is proven in the particular concentration. And as the good and intelligent Doctor said, it's also called a Post Doctorate ("post-Doc") -- a term not really in use these days. My DH is at a major medical facility in the Durham area and Fellowships are hard to get these days, and they are given to only the cream of the crop.

It goes to show that you should never ask a question that you.....and so forth....

Hmm, never thought of that. I always presumed it was a wireless microphone that allowed the court reporter to hear and thus accurately record the discussions at the bench.

I could be wrong, but I think I have heard Dr Drew refer to himself as an Internist. He's not a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist.

That's correct, Dum-Dum. The Dr. is a board-certified internist, addiction medicine specialist. I just double-checked google, who knows all :what:.
Dr. Drew

Drew Pinsky
Internist

One thing JA's lawyers couldn't hide today was their fascination with what DD was saying in the courtroom in regards to Jodi's 'issues' ... they've been dealing with her for years, they've suffered and continued to suffer, she's one of the most difficult people I've ever seen a DT try and save, sure she behaves herself for the most part in court, but she's broken every single rule of someone on trial, and it still goes on and on. She talked and talked and talked to the police, she went on the media, she lied to the people who were sent in to test her, she lied on the stand and got snippy with the prosecutor .. she's been IMPOSSIBLE!

The defence strategy for this trial is truly HORRIBLE, absolutely disgraceful.

They could have had an interesting defence using her BPD all the way through, no doubt she didn't allow it because she was loath to admit it. So here they are struggling for witnesses to agree with her version of events, it couldn't have been easy.

You gotta feel a little bit sorry for Wilmott and Nurmi. Not a lot, but a little.

Thanks...so many little things to learn along with so many big things! I love this board!

and now she Tweets LOL

At times I feel a bit embarrassed for Nurmi & JW at their tactics until I see all the smirking going on then with Dr.D mentioning how JA's behavoir is childish and that's what I see when the smirks & being hmmm prissy? (I thought snotty at first) They get paid either way by the state of AZ. It's their choice to want a job they like vs. a job they don't but want the pay. JA is leading their direction and it's childish. jmo Oh and JW shouldn't try pulling off the Juan technique, it fell flat today. Very choppy questioning as always.

In case you missed Jodi giving Dr. Demarte the finger today.

Thanks, CarGal -- I missed it. And what I say here is serious: She has a serious case of arrested development. What she did in that pic was on the level of a 7th-grader. And IINM, the doctor mentioned immaturity in one of her explanations today. It is also a mark of ASD. If it helps JA get through the day, well okay I guess. But it is such a tell.

G'night peeps!
