I know. It was simply a statement acknowledging the other poster's position that there is good reason for LE to withhold information when they are not obligated to release it.

Someone posted this as one of the cases in VA on the same charge: http://www.readthehook.com/109910/exculpatory-evidence-not-admitted-abduction-trial In this case, which was overturned, the focus was on suggestive text messages that could not be linked directly to the suspect and...

Yes, I realize this. Certainly there are also cases, Casey Anthony comes to mind, where too much was released too soon.

Lava, do you know if this tweet is related to anything said during the PC? Any idea where this claim that forensic are in came from.

Serial rapist or serial killer? In either case, I am afraid if police knew the suspect was responsible for such crimes and chose not inform the public, he could well offend again (particularly if desperate). This strikes me as extremely problematic. Can one of our LE/Lawyers comment on the...

I think this is a really good theory.

Thank you for this. I highly encourage people to look through these other cases. It is pretty enlightening on what LE may, or may not know at the moment.

If they have verification that a known rapist is at large they have a responsibility to inform the public of this. I can't imagine them holding back this information.

I am curious, if this charge could be based on something a witness at tempo saw or overheard, or was told by the suspect after seeing him leave with an obviously inebriated HG. Call me overly cautious, but I don't think they have anything more than this at the moment. If there was DNA, I would...

I read that as a post mocking those who are eager to hear the evidence linking the suspect to the crime. But you know, the great thing about living in a democratic society, in addition to a legal system that attempts to afford all citizens the same justice before the law, is the diversity of...

After this most recent PC I am not certain there are many facts for them to operate with, at least not yet. Whether they find them remains to be seen.

Absolutely, and social darwinism is pretty much the mother of all confirmation biases when we look at people's position in society and how readily one attributes negative traits to them on that basis.

I completely agree with you. I mean, he could very well be responsible for what happened to HG. That doesn't mean we have to read malice into aspects of his life that speak mostly to his socio-economic status, it is a little too close to social darwinism for me.

This does not surprise me, he works in medical transport and this could very well be for hygienic purposes. My father, who worked for decades in personal care, had many boxes of gloves around the house. In whatever field you might be likely to come into contact with human body fluids it is in...

I think it is possible (not necessarily likely) that HG was looking to meet up with someone, or a group, who were doing a pub crawl downtown after pre-gaming. She may not have known them very well, or known their definitive plans. Maybe she just had the number of one person, maybe their phone...

It seems likely to me that the sexual assaults are not related, and not related to Hannah. If they were, and police had reason to believe that the POI was involved, they would be negligent not to mention this to the public. It is possible, and in my opinion probable, that they have a...

In another recent case when the public has run with imagery made available is that of the Boston bombing when a young athlete and his coach were called out in images circling on the web. While the speculation began in online forums it made it to the front page of national newspapers. In that...

With the state of the economy this is the degree to which many of us millennial have our lives together. I make less than 10k a year as a graduate student, don't even have a car, and I am almost thirty. Many adults live this way. Being poor is not a character flaw.

You can be charged with a crime that you are ultimately not convicted of, and conversely can be convicted of a charge. This website helps to clarify: http://work.chron.com/can-still-job-got-arrested-but-not-convicted-21382.html Some employers only care about felonies, but it depends.
