Struck me as an oddly specific thing to fabricate. Why 'failed' ... you'd normally use those words if you harboured some kind of resentment. It's a strange choice of words to describe an imaginary person.
Maybe she really was the daughter of a failed stockbroker.
Seems she wouldn't elaborate...
You're right, it seems likely that she isn't on any missing persons list or it would have been solved a couple of months after it was reported.
Have to wonder what someone's life can be like that they can disappear and no missing persons report is filed. For that to happen surely you'd...
Good spot, I somehow missed that. Either it was signed as her real name or she used a check from someone else. I assume she did it via mail.
Here's the image to save others downloading the huge image:
I thought that too at first. However, from the web chat, we now know two more facts:
She was in possession of a receipt for $11 for the birth certificate
The Idaho ID was definitely not a fake
An information broker would have to get birth and death certificates in advance to check the race...
OK, theory time. If you go with the path of least resistance and the most likely scenario that ties up all the known stuff
If she did the ID change all herself, it's likely she lived within 50 miles of the grave of Becky Sue Turner and knew the graveyard previously. It's such an oddly...
One thing I find strange, which was repeated in the web chat, is that her family said she had no discernible accent.
Everybody has an accent. When people say they or someone else has 'no' accent they often mean 'they have an accent like mine'.
Presumably the Ruff family have Texas accents...
FYI .. the web chat regarding this case is on the Seattle Times blog is here
http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/
It's at 2pm whatever time zone Seattle is in (I'm not from the US) :)
I think that's a good point. The identity change was done so well it seemed like she had guidance or more likely an underworld 'document broker' gave her all the information she needed to do it:
- Deceased person's name roughly matching her age (All immediate family dead. Born and died in...
This is the exact place

according to this map

It's definitely the kind of place you wouldn't be noticed.
One more of CP and the younger looking LK. It's a shame there isn't a head on photo of CP.
They may not be the same person, but it's fair to say they are similar looking people: deep set brown eyes, upper cheek structure, facial lines when smiling, thin lips, chin. The way the eye sockets meet...
When she was older, the amount of a facial fat appears to be the same as the CP photo. Even if it's two different people, they have about the same amount of buccal fat, hence they look more similar.
As you say, if she got clean, she may have lost weight.
Not 100% sure if you meant this for or against it being CP. Anyway, take a look at the large version of both photos

From left to right (looking at the face .. starting with left canine)...
If there is any truth in this match, I think this is the best explanation for the height difference. She may well have been 5'8" - 5'9" at the time but her parent(s) gave the measurement the last time they remember her being measured. Remember that she moved out at 14. They probably had the 14...
Yes, I'm not certain by any means. However, the link below is the full size version of CP

There's really not enough detail to make a judgement about the ears (in my opinion). There are earnings in the way, hair is in the way, there's shadow...
One more.... (see previous post)
They look very similar to me. The cheeks are very distinctive.
If it's not the same person it's a lot of coincidences coupled with facial similarities.
Yes. I believe that this is a very good fit. The Lori nickname certainly fits.

Height: Her Ohio ID lists her height as 5'6". Clearly that's wrong; this is a tall woman, but it's another coincidence with Cynthia Perry. Sometimes people don't...
