    Deceased/Not Found Canada - Alvin, 66, & Kathy Liknes, 53, Nathan O'Brien, 5, Calgary, 30 June 2014 - #8

Purely wild speculation - but one has to wonder if LE might not, in similar circumstance, suggest to a motel that they ask a suspect to leave? If there was no question LE was going to arrest an individual (based possible on the return of forensic investigation, but without bodies) they might...

Seems like conflicting statements. Too early to tell, I guess http://live.calgaryherald.com/Event/Amber_alert_The_search_for_Nathan_OBrien_and_his_grandparents?Page=14 EDIT to add: http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/douglas-garland-re-arrested-1.1913146

Probable cause in Canada exists where 'credible probability replaces suspicion'. I don't think any of what you are alluding to here would be valuable in obtaining a search warrant - meaning replacing suspicion with credible probability.

There is nothing to substantiate this crash, that I am aware of, except DG 'placing blame' in the 2005 court transcripts. I don't think one can safely assume anything DG said/says to be true without corroboration

In that vein (completely wild speculation - got the idea elsewhere) - but I suppose it's possible that something tragic happened between the grandparents, and DG was called into help deal with it (given his past and the possibility that he just might 'owe a favour' from previous circumstances).

Not necessarily. Everybody has to have a story though - and if you are creating a new persona based on a false identity, you might steal bits and pieces of truth in the creation of that identity. Just speculation on my part - and thinking more about it - as DG's car crash story was used in court...

Unless the timeline doesn't fit, or there are legitimate details available, couldn't the whole 'car crash' story possibly be a fabrication? In assuming the identity of MKH, maybe DG took parts of the real life story of the poor deceased young boy and wove that into his new fake persona. Who...

I tend to agree. Something like the sleepover wasn't planned - just happened at the last minute. A 'please mommy' kind of thing. And therefore 'he wasn't even supposed to be there'.

Front plates have not been required for a long time in Alberta. I would guess maybe 15 years or more.
