Hey, I haven't been on WS in awhile so I'm just now seeing this. For these, we bought metal floral stems, drilled tiny, shallow holes in the pine cones, then hot glued the stems in those holes. I'm thinking of attaching floral stems with leaves as well. But once they are glued on, you can easily...
Great job, cujenn!
I've been too busy to post my crafts! I attempted to teach arm knitting last month. I'm linking a great video for learning. And we're painting "zinnia" pine cones next month. Then I'm going to take a month off because I'm burnt out on the program at the moment.
If the flu could eff up my life forever with some insane "long flu" I for sure would.
Plus, having never forgotten how truly miserable I was the two times I definitely had it, I probably would during flu season now that I feel like masks are no big deal.
The two times I had the flu I thought I was going to die. Once was in high school and once was in college. I will do just about anything to avoid it again. It's probably why I am such a hygiene freak and have always side-eyed sick co-workers.
In my area of the Midwest, ALL of the walgreens pharmacies have reduced hours. They are only open 10-6 on weekdays now. No weekend hours and the line is always long. Our Chewy order was also canceled because of supply issues. Many of the small businesses here have experienced temporary shortages...
I have a question for those outside the US. Are you all experiencing longer wait times at pharmacies and for other services, too? And supply shortages?
And how is your population generally handling it?
I've been pretty zen about it because what else is there to do? But I know others are...
Right. This makes sense to rotate them out ahead of expiration dates and replenish with new ones. Our last stockpile prior to the pandemic had largely expired. No need to wait six months before the next expiration. Do it occasionally well before so PPE doesn't go to waste.
I absolutely wear KN95s in certain situations like airports, funerals, and when I'm teaching a group. But I added a second type of filter back to my cloth masks today for my every day use. I had stopped using double filters at some point after I was vaccinated, but I'm back to it now.
According to an article from the Nebraska Medicine, mask materials that have high filtering efficiency in theory work best in combating the omicron surge, but fit is especially important.
Several studies have found that a multi-layer cloth mask can have effective filtration efficiency that is...
I wish they'd specify the types of cloth masks. No doubt single layer jersey ones are totally worthless. But I still feel like my 3 layer cloth mask with additional filter and nose wire is more protective than a surgical mask alone. I know it's not as good as an N-95 but I would bet real money...
UPDATE (Jan. 13): Rock Island Chief Deputy Steve Van Huzien released a statement Thursday, Jan. 13 confirming human remains were found Dec. 22 on the shore of the Mississippi River in the 16200 block of 78th Avenue.
The remains were examined on Jan. 5 and reportedly belong to a 25- to...
I don't care why our hospitals are full - if it's full of patients there with or for covid. The situation of hospitals being full/overwhelmed still boils down to "no room at the inn." So God help you if you are in a car accident or have a heart attack and need a room.
With or for, who cares? We...
According to the health department, there is no longer a 90 day wait. Unless you were hospitalized or received monoclonal antibody treatment, they no longer recommend waiting for the vax. We had a vax clinic at our library today and someone called to ask this specific question.
No, I wouldn't. I'm just saying there are good KN95s out there with ear loops for those who are more comfortable with that.
I recommend doing research on what brands pass muster before purchasing any of them.
Last week the rest home my father is in put out a message saying an employee had tested positive. In the past, this would have resulted in the home locking down. Now, apparently, it does not. We can come and go as visitors. Unmonitored, we are supposed to wash up, fill out paperwork, take our...
