Could this simply mean that the defense will focus solely on dismantling the State's case, showing why the evidence the State has is circumstantial and could point in numerous directions? Does the defense need to offer any new evidence if they are only going to attack the State's evidence?

That's interesting...I hadn't seen this exact interview before (the same student spoke on Dateline I think). I didn't know or hadn't heard that BK grew out his facial hair around the time of the murders. He was clean shaven during that traffic stop in Indiana.
IME, when I was doing my PhD, about half of the other grad students had TAships, another quarter had Reseacrh Assitanceships with a prof, and the rest were on their own...still grad students but had to find their own financial support, etc. The dept. always stated they would only take students...
And, I suspect, there might have been an original complaint/s lodged from a female student/s stating BK was not marking the women in the class on the same standards as the men to trigger the initial disciplinary action.
Again, all very hypothetical and my own thoughts I'm throwing out here...
I agree. However, <modsnip: Please don't reference specific conditions that are not diagnosed> add in an underlying low self-esteem or fear of rejection, and a repudiation or questioning of your abilities by an academic superior and a threat to your position might come as a real blow. From many...
DBM (I just noted that this was shared from another source in the early hours this morning...sorry, that's the problem of trying to do this from a phone while commuting!)
That's a very good question! If there are four cell towers within such a small area, then you're right, triangulation is definitely doable. And as Cool Cats says, there are also possible GPS and WiFi pings, etc.
I'm interested in knowing if cell carriers, like AT&T in this case, track and...
Exactly as you say here...to what purpose? I'm trying to figure out if there is any benefit to the defense to question DM about her actions after the sighting. Does it contribute in any way to reasonably doubt the defendant's role in the murders...not that I can see. Does it change anything...
All of this!
A trial by jury is as much about pathos as it is logos. IMO it would be a serious mistake to attack DM's character or even question her other than to point out that the description could apply to a broad selection of the population. I think the prosecutor would call DM simply to...
My impression is that these are boilerplate documents that pretty much cover any possible document, resource, etc. held by the other side. Basically saying, "Give me everything you have" and the response being, "We have provided everything there is that we can share..." except for the appendix...
How does that work in the US? Can the media request access to these types of documents before the trial commences (which might seem unfair or even disruptive to either side of a court case preparing their arguments), or are they restricted to reporting what is presented in court during the trial...
EXCEPT (and there always seems to be at least one exception in these rules and codes!), the Supreme Court of Idaho has ruled that Public Defenders offices are not firms within the understanding of 1.10 of the code, since they are not for profit nor financial endeavours. As I'm sure has already...
Well, it's possible I suppose, but BK would have to raise this concern in the trial itself and not afterwards, as per State v. Severson, 147 Idaho 694, 215 P.3d 414 (Idaho 2009). And if he does raise it, then there would be a separate inquiry trial to look into COI allegations.
IMO the...
Snipped by me...
I guess that depends on if CN's relationship is with AT or with the office of the Public Defense Commission. I'm not sure how it works in Idaho, but here in Canada, Legal Aid has a roster of "public defenders," and they can switch out on a given file several times. If one is...
My apologies if someone has already suggested this, but this thread moves too quickly for me to go back searching everywhere!
If he is like most students living in residence, he threw everything into a bag or two (sheets, towels, clothes) and took them home in his car to wash for free over the...
Just did a quick search to see where this was at and found that LE had charged someone last year, a Michael Blair. The two knew each other. Blair was charged with manslaughter and indignity to human remains. I don't see any record of a trial or court dates online.
CTV: Charges laid in 2019...
Edmonton Journal article about that same information. It adds that Patricia's remains were found after expanding the original search in the rural area near Beaumont, AB.
Watch: Foul play now suspected in Patricia Pangracs case
EPS have confirmed she is deceased and that they found her "concealed remains" in the fall.
Edmonton police say new evidence confirms missing woman is dead
I don't know...but that security video is definitely inside the larger Co-op supply store and not the smaller convenience store. It could be the RCMP simply called the larger store a "gas station," even though a lot of people wouldn't call it that.
