I agree, I think it's interesting if you consider how many killers, especially of children, take souvenirs. Could also point to an accidental killing that someone took a lot of effort to cover up.- urlildove

Based on what I know, he'd had a bit to drink (and I believe was underage) so he took the grid roads rather than the straight shot as a precaution not to interact with the police.
