Joint FBI and LAPD homicide library brings new hope for old cases "After a years-long effort, the joint LAPD/FBI Homicide Library opened Wednesday with 5,000 solved and unsolved homicide files, which include crime scene photos, pictures of witnesses, medical reports, notes scrawled on yellowing...

Resolved OK - Boise City, HispFem 40-70, UP9620, "Pooh" shirt, Charms, lower denture, May'07 - NamUs removed

I'm hypothesizing that she was homeless and was keeping her most important possessions in her bra for safekeeping. Also, I kind of wish they'd not added the 'cartoony' eyes to the post mortem photo. It's more distracting than helpful, imho.

Not every piece of medical ID jewelry is part of the MedicAlert system. But "MedicAlert" has become a generic term for medical ID item of any maker. You can order these from lots of companies. And not all medical ID jewelry/items will have the owner's info or be registered somewhere. Often...

It's possible she wore a bracelet for a serious allergy (penicillin, for example) and not necessarily for a chronic medical condition. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see the update that it was for diabetes.

Just a guess, but I think LE doesn't want people out looking for her or investigating on their own. I think they just want information from people who may have seen her, heard rumors, or have first/second/third/fourth-hand knowledge about the situation. Sharing certain details about the case...

Fl - Michael Shaver, 36, murdered, Clermont, 2015 *Wife and teen arrested 2023*

Doubtful. 1) He was a monorail mechanic, not a ditch-digger. 2) The tools were left at his workplace. 3) Whoever was impersonating him via text message told his co-workers they could keep his tools, so why would someone then pick them up?

From the NAMUS link: I looked up 'Jemis watch' and it came up with cheap $10-$20 watches. Assuming Jemis made watches in the same price range in 1998, I'm not sure a robber would bother with it. What would it get at a pawn shop? $5 at the very most?

Identified! NY - Wappinger, Female, 16-25, found in creek, Feb'18 - Ashanti Moore

NamUs says "Unknown or Completely Bald." I don't know much about decomposition, but I wonder if maybe the UID's scalp rotted enough that that portion of her skin became detached in the water and separated from the body. If that's the case, investigators wouldn't be able to tell hair color...

I just got an Amber Alert notice on my phone. (I'm currently in Oklahoma City.) Here's a link, but I don't know if it will work, as the site might be getting slammed right now. http://www.missingkids.org/poster/AMBER/30063/10583/screen Screencap from the page-- Transcription of highlighted...

    Found Deceased TX - Sherin Mathews, 3, Richardson, 7 Oct 2017 #1

RSBM Agree that 3am is when something happened. Maybe there was yelling at that time and the dad was afraid a neighbor might have heard it and noted what time they'd been woken up. So he needed an 'excuse' for why he would be angrily yelling at 3am—Sherin wouldn't drink her milk! (Of course...

Resolved OK - Oklahoma City, Skeletal Remains found Scattered in Field near Bridge, Sept'17 - Name withheld

It looks to me like someone ran that tattoo image through a bunch of crappy photo filters to make it 'less graphic' or something. And the result is an image that's muuuuuuch harder to discern. Has anyone seen this done before?

Whatever indeed! One of the things that infuriates me most is that some communities tend to assume that "believers"/"church-goers" automatically have a few hundred more 'morality' points to their credit, while non-believers/non-church-goers are thought to be untrustworthy, immoral animals. And...

For DNA, Namus says "Sample submitted - Tests complete" And yet invesitgators don't know the sex? Am I mistaken in thinking that they should be able to figure that out from the DNA?

Europol, Stop Child Abuse – Trace an Object - help ID victims.

RSBM Perhaps an exam room in a doctor's office? I'm sure there are plenty of pedophiles who are doctors, or who work in a medical practice. From an abuser's perspective, there might be advantages to using a doctor's office as a location for abuse. Children are told by parents that it's okay to...

NJ NJ - Newborn boy, New Brunswick, May 2016

A baby that is dead before birth would not be given a "certificate of live birth," which is what we commonly refer to as a "birth certificate." Some government agencies will issue something like a "certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth" or similar. Which is great if such a thing brings...

Tickets on Sale Now for CrimeCon'18

I'm sorry that you had such a crummy time trying to find parking, but it's not easy/cheap for convention planners to set aside parking just for their attendees. When going to some event in a place I am not super familiar with, my rule is to go REALLY DANG EARLY. That way, if trouble comes up, I...

Perplexing! Dead within the past 9 or 10 months, soft tissue on the mandible, and yet we aren't told how it got under the cabinet. It makes me remember when my spouse and I replaced the dishwasher that came with our new-to-us house, and the installer found someone's old driver's license...
