The more I think about this, I think the perp is from outside the area...when I was in Barron, albeit almost 20 years ago, it took me less than an hour to get to the Minnesota state line, and that was after a detour to Dallas (Dallas, WI)...I hope they are diligently checking plates in MN.
On the Beltline in Madison (U.S. Highways 12/14/18/151), the Amber Alert billboard just says "Red Dodge." Guessing it is to just make it simple, but I can't help wondering if they are getting a lot of bad leads.
My 10 year-old daughter commented, "They probably killed her...I mean, why would they keep her alive?" Of course, I couldn't give her the other possibility.
My guess is that it would be a distraction and seem too self-serving in an election year. Still, I'm surprised he hasn't issue a press release or something praising LE and asking the state to pray, pitch in, etc....
I would guess that they checked Wisconsin registered vehicles first, then Minnesota...many people from Illinois visit northern Wisconsin, but mostly in the summer or during hunting season.
My guess is that this came to light near the end of last week (with probably a few more)...someone probably spent the weekend searching DMV records to no avail.
2000 volunteers across 7 directions (due west already searched, so NW, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW)...285 people per sector, or 47 groups of 6 each sector...I bet any resident or business owner that complains is immediately suspected.
