I think that's extremely unlikely. Stuff I've seen from locals suggested it was more like a pupil being bullied (or in some form of dispute) who has completely snapped, lashing out at the person she perceived to be bullying her and then anyone who intervened.
This also aligns with the article...
I expect a massive police inquiry into this given that the victim went to police regarding the death threats made against her and was then murdered before the police held an "emergency" meeting about her situation.
The details of the crime are utterly horrific too.
It's very worrying that he presumably passed DBS/CRB checks in order to be a kickboxing instructor.
(Unless there isn't actually a legal requirement for this and therefore he can run his own club and just not mention it, but that seems a worrying loophole in itself if correct.)
There were restrictions on reporting this trial (well, naming KR or his link to ER) until today's sentencing but a local paper in Wigan 'erroneously' reported this at the start of February. It was taken down after a day or two.
Updates given on the BBC (11:28 of their live coverage) has a KC saying that the starting minimum term is either 17 or 20 years for those aged 15-16.
Hence ER's KC is applying for the minimum 17 years
It won't have been considered. The 'decision' will have just been to send them to the nearest PRU by default after they've been removed from their mainstream school.
The PRU system seems to massively overlook this aspect. The students there have such a wide range of needs. The same school will...
Can't say that I believe SJ's 'confession', given the difference in how much blood was on her compared to ER. My opinion is that, given her obsessions, she's wanting to claim some "credit" (in her eyes).
No shock at all with this verdict. In fact, the most surprising thing is that it took almost 5 hours but at least it shows the jury took their roles seriously.
<modsnip: sub judice>
Overall, a massive tragedy.
I find this unlikely. Given the conversations between the defendants where they liked to show off, I can't imagine a second knife being brought by Girl X that isn't the "chef knife". She mentioned this knife several times in messages. This knife was later found in Girl X's room with only Girl...
I think most barristers would struggle to form a solid defence for this client. From the court updates, it hasn't sounded like there's much to build on.
But yes, from the transcripts it seems the least impressive of the three closings. Of course, transcripts don't paint the full picture of...
This seems very incriminating. However, I'd be interested to see how the heat map would look for all incidents and 'near misses' on the unit and not just these specific 24, and also normalised against hours worked by each staff member. I would be surprised if the defence doesn't try to show...
Yes, I thought similar to you when trying to think of more innocent explanations for that comment. If she felt that she may be suspected of negligence and similar, then it would make sense for her to say "they've got nothing or minimal on me".
It depends on personality - I know some on here...
Overall, from reading the court reporting each day, I'm inclined to think TC is guilty but I'm not sure that I could give that verdict if I were in the jury. There just doesn't seem to be enough evidence, or something that's completely concrete, and the explanations by the defence are enough to...
In fairness, this isn't the first time he's been asked it (as in, 7 months later when it's a foggy memory).
It was mentioned today that he was arrested several times before being charged, therefore he likely had to account for his movements back in August or September when that day was much...
Seems like the defence's case will be to explain his movements (as outlined by the prosecution) as related to drug dealing and not related to the murder (hence mentioning why he's often going into his sister's house for a few minutes), plus say that PR/unnamed witness are making accusations as...
I've assumed Paul Russell too (she mentions that she called him on the night of the shooting so it seems that she knows him to some degree) but it would be good to have clarity on this.
I think this trial is an important example of why people need to take things they see on social media with a hint of scepticism until the detail is out. Aside from the witch-hunts and terrible experiences of these falsely accused men, even looking within the early pages of this thread we have...
I don't think they're trying to cast doubt on it existing. It seems more that they're trying to suggest that any discoloration wasn't considered significant at the time but that it's bigger in the mind of witnesses now as they've been questioned on it many times by the prosecution or have seen...
This doesn't necessarily suggest anything untoward, however. It would be easy to argue that air in the bowel is such a common concern that the BBC have just made a program about it.
Though some will undoubtedly claim that the show as a source of inspiration (despite the fact that all nurses on...
