Richard Parker was arraigned this morning, and will remain in jail through April 18. He has a public defender. I wrote another post on my site telling a brief, strange story that may shed light on Richard's family dynamic growing up. It was stranger than I knew. Anyone interested in the hows &...
Thank you, Kimster. My post was kind of just my immediate reaction, which was more emotional than I could've anticipated. I touch on some memories that came back, as much of feelings as anything. Even though his mom moved from where the Parkers lived a few years ago I can vividly picture where...
Hi all--
I'd moved into covering more general news and tech/cyber crime and haven't posted or logged in here in years but I've often checked in. I'm not sure why I logged in today. I partly just wanted to see if there was a thread like this here. See, I knew Richard Parker. My family and his...
Didn't mean to pop back up, but I wanted to thank the folks who thanked me for my post earlier in the thread.
I didn't realize how much I'd emotionally invested in this case till today. Only comparison for me in my writing career was probably Tori & Dean. I elected to not propose a book for...
With this post, as my previous WS nick misterallgood, I began the Websleuths discussion of this case in 2005. I have always been convinced Raven was getting away with something and frankly dropped out of the discussion after a while both because I was getting a lot of work writing about other...
Thanks y'all. They had me on 48 Hours tonight talking about the Craigslist Killer. I actually don't see myself on TV all that much, it's kind of surreal. Working on another story I may pitch to CBS right now.
Someone posted a link to my blog entry about Garrido earlier - he was arrested in November, 1976 and convicted of kidnapping, rape etc. in Feb., 1977. My sources were pdfs of the actual newspapers articles published back then about the crime. That doesn't mean he didn't do something in 1971. I'd...
Hercutt, a 40-year-old Gatlinburg businesswoman, died in what first appeared to be a car accident on 8/2/09. Then police received a tip that she might have been murdered.
Hercutt's death is now a homicide investigation.

Someone stating they are the editor of the Ozark Sentinel (small town newspaper) has commented on my blog post and they say Revak is indeed a person-of-interest in Deidre Harm's death.
I noted this in the thread about Deidre Harm, but it's worth repeating - you all should take a look at the sketch of the suspect in the Harm murder. Looks just like Chris Revak.
I'm confused about Revak & Wisconsin. There is a different, still-living Christopher Revak who is the same age who may have been confused with the alleged serial killer. I'm wondering if some reporters misread some public records, especially with both Revaks being the same age.
Okay, y'all. More than two weeks since the Husteds were killed and no recent news that I could find on Dr. Di Rodio. At first I thought the Husteds were perhaps targeted. I still might be right about that. But something about the speed of these investigations is making me wonder what's really...
I'll add this - whoever did this, they planned it for a while. And they're pretty smart, but may not be a habitual criminal. I have a feeling the killer may have thought they were committing a perfect crime.
I just knew it wasn't random. It made no sense in that context, at all. The motorcycle helmet, the ease with which the killer seemed to slip in and out of the house, the silence of the killer's retreat - it all pointed towards deliberate planning.
The thing we don't know is why they were...
I posted something longer, but it is perhaps fortunate that it was eaten.
Long story short - no way do I think this was a random double homicide. Nothing about it really seems random - the focus on the Husteds, the motorcycle helmet, leaving the weapon at the scene - none of it sounds like the...
Guys don't just necessarily pop out with language like this under duress if they're normally pretty nice. He has spoken to her this way before in other stressful situations, is my guess.
Everything about this case smells wrong to me, and even if the cops say Cummings and his teen girlfriend aren't suspects, I feel like there is just an unspoken 'yet' after that statement.
Folks who think Cummings seems sincere on video are giving him a lot of credit. His demeanor bugs me, a...
