Found Deceased UK - Nicola Bulley, 45, last seen walking her dog on footpath by the river, Inskip, Lancashire, 27 Jan 2023

Her phone being on the bench seems to rule out an accidental slip into the river. She may have still gone in after the dog I suppose, you would probably place your phone down if you were planning to enter the water. I wonder if it was found on the ground by someone who picked it up and put it...

UK - Healthcare worker arrested on suspicion of murder/attempted murder of a number of babies, 2018

Thanks Alyce, the report I was reading just said she appeared by video link but not the location. That’s a long time to have someone remanded, is there a legal limit? If she’s found not guilty will she receive any recompense?

I must be missing it as I’m sure it’s mentioned, but is she remanded in custody at the moment?

I remember your updates on the day they arrested WC. You must have been really shaken at living so close to all that was occurring. I hope once today is over you get some closure and that your enjoyment of your home isn’t affected.

I can’t believe that this wasn’t a premeditated murder. If he intended to rape her and release her he wouldn’t have driven so far. He made no attempts to conceal his identity from her, which he would have done if he knew she would be alive to identity him. Does anyone know if the burden of...

The defence lawyer will know by giving this piece of work the most professional defence available means that he will be less likely to appeal the whole conviction at a later date. A good defence is as important in getting justice as a good prosecution.

His colleagues described him as “friendly and calm” - his colleagues also described him as “The Rapist”

That’s a good point, as far as I’m aware the only cctv that caught the abduction was from passing vehicles. Maybe he was actually very aware this particular area isn’t covered by static cameras. There must be very few places in London where this is the case.

I can’t imagine what will be presented in the way of mitigation today. Surely a whole life tariff is in order? - He purchased items to carry out the offence well in advance. -He was a serving police officer who used his warrant card and cuffs to deceive Sarah into his car (which he had hired...

See, to me £30k of debt doesn’t seem that extraordinary. Yes it’s a lot but for a working couple it’s not the end of the world. Especially with the debt help that’s available. I’d be surprised if the Met didn’t have its own debt counselling (or links to an external agency). They are very keen to...

A craft knife (found in his car) is essentially a razor blade pen. You can use it for scoring and mark making. Very sharp and if I’m thinking worst case scenario, could have been used to mark and superficially mutilate her body. Presumably such injuries would be eradicated by fire.

I wonder steroid misuse is a factor. Both in aggression and erectile dysfunction.

I guess the reason for the hire car was because it would appear more like an unmarked police car than his Seat would have? I think I read that his Seat was not in good condition.

Did he want to be caught or not? He was so incompetent after the fact, especially for a police officer. But then he has this pre-concocted ridiculous story.

yeah that is weird. I wonder why he would risk going to a public place at this time? If the rape and murder occurred somewhat simultaneously you’d think he would admit to that, keeping quiet suggests to me he wants to hold something back for himself.

What’s the best source for the live updates please? The hearing is 2 days long isn’t it? That’s a lot more detail to come. It’s just so harrowing. The aggravating factors in this are huge, I assume they will play a key part in sentencing.
