    TX TX - David, 41, & Susan Joost, 35, & two children, Buda, 4 March 1990

I am the OP on this thread. I'm really gratified that so many local folks have commented. It has helped to flesh out the picture for me a good bit. I no longer live in Hays County, but most of my family is still there. I worked for the state of Texas as a very young adult at the time of the...

    TX TX - David, 41, & Susan Joost, 35, & two children, Buda, 4 March 1990

Hello. I am the original poster here and it has been a long time since I have checked back on this thread. I am both gratified and somewhat amazed by the response and by the fact that I am obviously not the only person who has thought about this family over the years.

My guess on who they are and why no one is looking for them

You know, the Argentinean couple really DOES look like them, especially in that last link. I had always wondered if perhaps this was an honor killing of two people who had run away from their respective families together. I'm sure honor crimes happened in the US in the 70's too, we just didn't...

Dark Minds "Texas Killing Fields" episode airing Wednesday, March 20th at 9 PM CDT

It seems stupid to me that they let one serial killer provide theories on this case, almost like his theories are fact. Just because "Raven" killed people who reminded him of someone he knew doesn't mean another serial killer is doing the same thing. Maybe he just has a "type" - that's just...

@bullshark - it's on youtube under "blonde, blue-eyed and gone" (or something like that)

TX TX - Yogurt Shop Murders, Austin, 6 Dec 1991

Ok. Reid was apparently paroled in Dec. 1990 and the yogurt shop murders occurred in 1991. Sometime after the murders, he moved to Nashville, purportedly to begin a music career, and his further crimes were committed in Tennessee, and then he moved onto another state.

TX TX - Yogurt Shop Murders, Austin, 6 Dec 1991

fwiw, I always wondered when Dennis Paul Reid was paroled in Texas in 1990. Was it before these murders? He committed similar crimes at fast food restaurants, including a Baskin Robbins.

TX TX - Yogurt Shop Murders, Austin, 6 Dec 1991

I lived in the area and my younger sister worked for an ICBY store about thirty miles away. It was a frightening time. We know MUCH more info now about the crime than was released by LE at the time. So this horrible event was somewhat shrouded in mystery at the time. As to the previous...

    TX TX - David, 41, & Susan Joost, 35, & two children, Buda, 4 March 1990

Just wanted to update this with some additional coverage I've found. Apparently the murders occurred in 1990 and not in the 80's. As part of a Texas Monthly article in February 1994, The Twilight of the Texas Rangers, http://www.texasmonthly.com/story/twilight-texas-rangers/page/0/7: So...

Do You Recognize Any of These Women?

Does anyone know what finally happened in this case? I think in these cases where a photographer turns out to be a serial killer, he would probably have victimized any of the women he photographed if he felt like the situation and their victimology was "right". For instance, he might only...

I'm not having any issues and I haven't been doing the FB thing recently (because I started some new medicine a couple days ago and its left me feeling not so hot off and on, although a bit better now). My computer seems to be fine. So maybe it is FB that's been the problem for folks? Just...

I know that I've seen many kids who I thought were a little too affectionate and friendly with others. Just innappropriate boundaries. Which is really what that is with the coming over too often and staying too much. You worry when you see that about those kids meeting up with the wrong...

I wanted to share this crimevictim link about dna. This link is talking about dna backlog on the federal level, but it also goes into some state problems also. It's just informative about a lot of different dna issues that can occur, so I found it helpful...

my understanding though, is that he had absconded from florida much earlier than that. I thought he was missing from florida for a matter of months. Certainly, he was missing and unaccounted for when Somer vanished. So... where was he in between? Florida said he'd been in Texas all of that...

Chee - that hearing is going to be where the public d complains that the prosecutor is persecuting his client because of the recent climate due to Somer's case and the prosecutor is going to say that he's just upholding the law and they're going to go back and forth, and in the end, because of...

eyes4crime - I've got a very short attention span. Like... a nanosecond. Or less. So can you respond to posts somewhere in the near vicinity (like, a page or three) of when they occurred and then it makes it easier for me to know what exactly you're referencing. Otherwise, its difficult for...

I think any of us who have lived in Texas or who currently live in Texas need to call over to where CWG is and represent - since they seem to feel its just fine to let CWG abscond there from another state, and live there for any ol' amount of time without registering. (Currently live in...
