This is so hard to hear. Now isn't the time to second guess LE or to point fingers, but it's hard to believe that it took so long to find Jacob. I could ask why, but there are no answers. Just so much sadness, anger, and grief. That poor innocent child.
Has been talked about here before, in the Wetterling threads, but Joshua Guimond (age 20) went missing from Collegeville, MN in 2002. He has never been found. Obviously he's much older than Jacob and DH's other known victims. But it's right in the same area. Can't help but wonder...
If they found the clothes along with the remains, it seems likely that he was killed shortly after the abduction. Just speculation. Also interesting that they didn't find anything in Heinrich's place that tied him to Jacob.
If DH is the perp, it's hard to believe the fire isn't somehow connected. The timing is alarming. According to the MN CBS local website, the fire happens. Then LE learns that DH had a connection to the house. And then four days later DH "is arrested in another kidnapping case." Is this case...
Yes, I'm back after a long break!
I have some questions/thoughts about all of this. In reading the criminal complaint, the same pattern of behavior emerges in all of the Paynesville incidents as well as in Jared and Jacob's kidnappings. In fact the similarities are shocking--kids walking or...
I'll throw this out there as well, <modsnip>
DR constantly criticizes LE, the media, and people trying to solve/investigate the case. Yet, he says he wants the case solved, and he keeps talking to media and drawing attention to himself by posting comments on news stories, talking to reporters...
There's tons of stuff online about Polka that mentions both Polka Padre and the Deutschmeisters. There's no way they didn't know each other. I know both appearing on a CD compilation of "Polka Hits" does not mean they knew each other, but they are clearly part of the same community and live...
That's what I'm finding as well. Nothing that goes beyond describing him as "playing trombone" or "a budding trombonist." I'm paraphrasing there, but it sure seems like he just started taking lessons, probably that fall in school. I think most kids start band in 5-6 grade.
Re: shergal...
Josh Guimond, the college student who vanished from SJU in 2002, also played trombone and played in the SJU Wind Ensemble/Orchestra.

The detail in the article about Kapoun that describes him making young boys swim naked makes me wonder if that lake has been searched for bodies.
Until this point, I've always believed that DR was the best suspect in thinking about means and opportunity. We don't know his motive, although we...
DR saying he went to the mailbox is another one of those little "coincidences" that keep pointing to DR. I agree that there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for him saying that: it was true. It is his property.
And yet, Wisdom is right that he does admit to being at the crime scene...
