Found Alive AL - Carlethia “Carlee” Russell, 25, 911 call reported toddler walking on side of interstate, car found, she & toddler gone, Birmingham, 13 Jul ‘23

That's the kind of thing I referred to earlier. Several years ago, here in Georgia, a man hit 2 teen girls. They found one dead and only the shoe of the other one. A drunk driver in a pickup hit them. The second girl flew over the cab into the bed of the truck. He was so drunk, he had no...

Where I live in Georgia, several years ago, we had a missing person case. They only found her shoe. When they found her, it seems a drunk driver in a pickup truck had hit her and threw her body over the cab of his truck into the bed of the truck. He was clueless until he found her body the...

GUILTY MI - Trevaun Brooks for raping, impregnating 11yo girl, Mount Clemens, 2011

Sadly, I know of a case in Georgia several years back where a 14yo girl became pregnant by her stepfather. Her mother told her coworkers of the daughter's pregnancy and said the girl had gotten pregnant in the school bathroom by some boy. The coworkers knew something was wrong with the story...

That is what I was afraid of. The agency they used seems to have a lot of cross trained dogs. That could be a problem in a court case because it could mean they hit on remnants of someone deceased or on something from a living person that may have been tracked in. It could be an issue later...

Okay, reading some more. They do have a cadaver dog, but we don't know which dog was used, do we? Also, I have read repeatedly that it is not good to have a dog trained as both a rescue and a cadaver dog, but they have several. I can see how that might cause a problem on any search where that...

BBM If I am reading this right, they did not search McD's apartment with cadaver dogs. Just regular search dogs. Not that they are regular dogs, but they are not looking for dead bodies and are not trained to hit on decomposition. That is something important to think about. It would mean a...

So, let me make sure I understand correctly. You are saying if a body was wrapped in plastic the entire time it was in a location, then removed, the dogs would not hit. Because the body itself has to come in contact with something in the location. Correct? That seems to be the gray area...

Actually, I was thinking if the body were on a surface that is no longer there, such as plastic, would the scent still be there. If the body and the plastic barrier were no longer present, would there be a scent. So, according to the cops, it depends. Big help guys! lol! If the dog is...

Interesting. I am still searching. I think I might go ask the half dozen cops sitting outside my patient's door. They might have an answer tonight. They aren't that busy at the moment.

I guess what I am asking is if the body did not touch a surface in McD's apartment, would the odor still have been there for the dogs? It would have to be in the air, I would think, if he used some barrier to prevent the body from touching surfaces.

Checking your article next. I found this one: http://www.forensicsinthenews.com/Summer-O8-ExaminerPDFs/SearchDogs.pdf This article does say they use air-scenting.

Okay, I found this: http://dogsdontlie.com/main/2008/12/cadaver-dogs-how-reliable-are-they-at-detecting-death/ http://forensicsciencecentral.co.uk/detectiondogs.shtml So, this is saying that even without a body touching the surface of anything, the dogs can detect decomp in an area. Is...

I am about to see if I can find the answer, but here at work, who knows if the computer will let me open anything I find. My question is pretty simple. The dogs hit on decomposition. Blood does decompensate, so I think they should hit on blood. But my question is does the scent of...

To be perfectly fair, the post was not about anything other than how our actions could be perceived if we were ever in a situation where we found ourselves accused of a crime. It was absolutely not anything to do about anyone being incapable of anything. I think you might need to re-read the...

Things do vary by state, even what things are called. I am in Georgia, so that is where I know the information I have. I used to think being found incompetent was a Get Out of Jail Free card. I was surprised to find out it isn't. That is one wild population though. Dangerous for those...

Wow. Really. Wow. I never said anything about anyone in that. I agree this crime happened. And I agree scrutiny is warranted. I was looking at how something that would be meaningless could suddenly have major importance. I am really surprised this was taken as something personal. It was...

Have we read that he intentionally scratched people? In that article, I felt it could go either way. Like "those dang fingernails got in the way all the time" or "he was crazy, scratching at people when he was acting goofy with them." I didn't get it was with malice from the way it was presented.

It is interesting to think if this crime had never happened, McD's youth would have been considered 'quirky.' His interest in various plots would have seemed 'eccentric.' Even his reported interest in murder and mayhem would have been seen as a great review for his career path. Learn how the...

I remember we discussed this article earlier. 2 said they thought it could be and 2 thought it wasn't. It appeared the two that knew him better were not as convinced. I think interviewing his old friends from school would be better. It would give more insight to the person. I have seen some...
