Laura Babcock Murder Trial - *GUILTY*

So I wonder what they did discover that led them to charge him with both LB and WM's murders at the same time. The letters were the most logical conclusion... was it simply DM's DNA being found on the .32?

Laura Babcock Murder Trial - *GUILTY*

My point was that the Bosma trial seemed to be a little more cut and dry in terms of evidence of guilt. This trial is all circumstantial, and the jurors have not had the benefit of discussing along the way, as we here have, so it's going to (rightfully) take time. In fact, I'd argue moreso than...

BBM Weren't the Bosma jurors out for five days? I recall someone saying that in an earlier thread. I disagree completely that it's "troubling" these jurors are taking "this long". Lives are at stake here, come on.

Catching up so apologies if this has been mentioned, but my first question about that text was WHEN was it sent?

Assistance after the fact is not M1, unless it could be proven that a person helped plan and encouraged the execution of a murder in order to be able to physically assist afterwards. That is my understanding.

Laura Babcock Murder Trial 12.11.17 - Charge to the Jury - Day 3

BBM I believe I'm the droid you're looking for. I was re-reading MS's testimony from the TB trial while following this trial, and MS claimed on the stand that DM used to abuse Pedo for "peeing and pooing on his bed". The judge was quick to have the jury disregard the allegation. I likely put...

Don't think they have any of MS's phones, backups, or SIM cards.

And again, nothing he would need MS for. Not even sure why he included him in the disposal...except to set up those incriminating pics.

I thought in that case the texts are stored on the service provider's server until they could be delivered. When you turn your phone on, that's when the texts would show up on the record. If the phone is never again turned on, the texts would never show up. ETA We might be saying the same...

The discussion about the phone pings near the Clairville conservation area had me thinking...do we know which Sleep Country location he visited on the 4th? A quick search shows a store relatively nearby. I don't have the phone ping exhibit handy to check, but could this be the stop in question?

As long as the phone was turned on, it would still receive incoming texts, even if they were never read, no?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Millard acquire the Walther in Feb 2012? If so, I'm unsure why the Crown would not have alleged that was the murder weapon, instead of the .32 that may or may not have had ammo by the time of Laura's alleged murder? Perhaps its relation to the Bosma murder...

Babcock Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #7

There was discussion (yesterday?) regarding the cell service provider of DM. If this is a screenshot from his phone (as was entered into evidence), it would suggest he was with Fido. FWIW it appears Fido was acquired by Rogers in 2004, though a quick Google search shows numerous complaints...

Laura Babcock Murder Trial 12.07.17 - Charge to the Jury - Day 1

IIRC One of the alternates was excused when her brother died, and the other was excused during Closings for undisclosed, personal reasons. I agree with the rest of your statement, I would definitely find it difficult to be an alternate (but at the same time, it might be a relief not to have to...

Laura Babcock Murder Trial 12.07.17 - Charge to the Jury - Day 1

So if the jury convicts DM of M1 but is unable to come to an agreement on MS, would that only be a mistrial for MS or would it be both because they're tried together? If only a mistrial for MS, do you think the Crown would re-try him for M1, try a lesser charge (AATF) or simply cut their...
