    Media Exposure - #2

Here's an organization that I just found online http://www.missionforthemissing.com/ that assists in searching for missing people, including cold cases. Not sure if this is an avenue that has been explored previously, but thought I would bring it up. Hopefully there will be answers soon.

    Anna's point of view

Another thought . . . it would probably have been much easier to call Anna something similar to her actual name, so we might be looking for someone who thinks her name is Ann(e) or Annie or something else that sounds similar.

    Anna's point of view

My understanding is that news programs and other programs have featured Anna, including shows such as "Missing". Perhaps Dr. Doogie or Annasmom can give us details or let us know if this is featured on another thread. Maybe we could at least get someone to re-run or do an update?

    Anna's point of view

Our best bet seems to be to continue to throw out ideas for possible "triggers" for her memories or for questioning the story she has been told. Many adoptees choose to search, but I can't help but think that if she had chosen to search she likely would have found her family if she had memories...

    Anna's point of view

I think there are many possibilities for what Anna remembers or doesn't. Given 39 years of being unable to find her, the assumption has to be that, if she is alive, she either doesn't remember or chooses not to be found for whatever reasons. I am working with doesn't remember because if she...

    Anna's point of view

In my musings - I am thinking that she would likely have no pictures of herself as a child before age 5. I am not sure how we could capitalize on this, but it just seems like there would be a noticeable gap. Even though I don't remember, I have seen plenty of pictures of myself before age 5...

    Anna's point of view

In my continued stream of consciousness today . . . It seems like the bus trip with her family might be a very powerful and unique experience. Annasmom - have you ever written a detailed story about it and published or posted it with pictures? It seems like she might be attracted to the...

    Anna's point of view

I think one of the other important factors is for it to be unique. For example, one of my grandmothers made a potato salad that had beets in it that I loved. I called it "pink stuff". I don't know of anyone else with that association and it does trigger memories of her house and family...

    Anna's point of view

I agree - I remember outfits from that age - special toys - I remember words that I used for things because I couldn't properly pronounce the correct word - a lot of visuals of the house I lived in and my kindergarten classroom and teacher. Maybe a special name for a special toy?

    Anna's point of view

Another random thought - I think there would be a good chance of her having some sort of PTSD experience around the date January 16. Traumatic events tend to live in our bodies even if they are not consciously recalled. Maybe depression or unsettled feeling or something of that kind. If the...

    Anna's point of view

I wonder if that means there is a woman out there who has wonderful, comforting associations with apples but doesn't know why? Maybe even a passion for apple-scented candles or potpourri. Chicken coops also have such a strong, specific smell. I wonder how this could be used?

    Anna's point of view

Another thought I had is that she may not know her true age or birthdate. I would think that those would be pieces of information that would not be given to her if she were abducted.

    Anna's point of view

I know that a couple of things that are very strong triggers for memory formation are smells and bee stings. My earliest memory is being stung by a bee when I was two years old. I can picture where I was and who I was with to this day. It has also been shown that a specific smell can bring up...
