Just look at what happened to Caylee Anthony's grandparents in the public when supporting their daughter. Would you want to subject yourself to that public backlash? Sometimes it is best to stay in the shadows.
What about if Kyron's biological mother did this? If this woman is trying to pay people to kill her potential ex-husband, who knows what's going through her mind. Beyond that fact, child manipulation for the purposes of divorce is old. Some people take it to a whole new (and different) level.
You have a point. Serial killers don't have a conscience. They also are aware that there are societal rules, but these rules don't apply to them. These aspects are ingrained into their personalities.

This boy I doubt will not be considered "insane" under the law. It said in the article that he blacked out and found blood on his hands. Later, he wanted to inflict pain on his uncle by killing his grandmother. This shows a conscious effort to conceal his actions.
