I’m a local (in CO, but not Durango), and the case, unfortunately, no longer makes headlines. There’s a nightly blurb about what happened each day in the trial, but that’s about it. I would speculate that it’s because so much time has passed, but honestly I don’t know that that’s the only...
This is one of very few trials that I watched without knowing much about the case ahead of time. For most of the state's case, I thought he *probably* did it, but there would not be enough evidence to convict. By the time they rested, I was convinced he was guilty, but I could still see where...
The "prior bad acts" evidence was presented to the jury this time during sentencing. The girlfriend whom Darren ran to after the shotgun incident testified. Of course, Darren later testified she was lying. Anyway, I would assume the new jury could hear all that since the original jury did.
Per this article on Click2Houston, the appeal is handled at the appellate level.
How did convicted killer David Temple get bond? Our legal analyst takes a look
From what I’m reading, the family would have to post 10-20% of the bail money, plus provide collateral for the rest. This is probably...
I certainly hope not. The two other times he got bond, he was only accused of a crime. He is now a convicted murderer. There is no reason he should be anywhere but behind bars.
I also think many people, especially Heather, the Harlans, and maybe even Kelly Siegler, have very good reason to...
Just tweeted by the one and only Kelly Siegler:

Life at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center: Temple Trial Takeaways. #thetruth #justiceAGAIN (link: http://harriscountycriminaljustice.blogspot.com/2019/08/temple-trial-takeaways.html)
Not that I am aware, but they were played in court and/or stipulated to in his first trial, per Shattered, so the jury heard what she said, and heard Temple tell Brenda that he had no interest in finding Belinda's killer and that Belinda wouldn't want her trying to find him either. I don't know...
Welcome! If you're new to the case, there is a TON out there to read...not a ton from his most recent trial, unfortunately...there is a lot of great information linked in the posts in this thread that are well worth the read.
You're right about RJS having a shotgun. RJS's father actually...
Agreed. Per Andy Kahan in one of the local news outlets that Ann-TX so kindly linked for us above, the majority wanted the maximum sentence. I imagine Evan got to the two who refused to deliberate. Still, how anyone could see Evan as anything less than a victim of his father is beyond me. IMO.
I simply cannot imagine the judge setting bond for a convicted murderer. I understand he was given bond when the first conviction was reversed on appeal, which makes sense. At that point, he was only an accused murderer. A jury of his peers has now found him guilty of killing his wife and...
The defense smells a hung jury. I bet this is all a ploy to keep them sequestered another day and push them to the point of throwing in the towel tomorrow since it’s Friday. Absolutely ridiculous.
Oh my goodness. I thought maybe the judge would decide if the jury couldn’t.
I’ll give it to this jury, they’re not giving up. They haven’t gone home to their families or slept in their own beds in three days, and are staring down a fourth, but they keep working.
My guess is, there’s a holdout...
Rebecca’s his sister in law. She knew from the beginning he did it. She’s drinking the Temple koolaid now, I guess. Mama Temple probably told her to tow the line or hit the road. She might be worse than Jackie Peterson.
Still no verdict? Do we have any update at all? This makes me nervous.
Also, Rebecca Temple is tweeting about David’s innocence despite being caught on tape telling Brenda she thinks he did it and she’s scared of him.
I'm with you Ann. I don't understand what is taking so long. My hope is they have a decision and want to sleep on it. I can't fathom anything less than life in prison for murdering two innocent people. Do we know what happens if they aren't unanimous as to punishment?
