Now this is a little freaky.

Like out of a movie. Woman awakes to find her corn crop flattened.

"Bailey's small garden, marked with the homey sign "Grandma's Garden," is fenced off with 7-foot-tall chicken wire and wood. She has planted yellow and white corn among the squash and tomato plants.

In the middle of the corn patch, a perfect square of corn stalks lay perfectly flat, uniformly bent in one direction. The healthy, green corn stalks were otherwise undamaged and the corn surrounding the approximately 20-foot by-40-foot square was standing perfectly. Not one tomato or squash was harmed.

Whatever, or whoever, flattened the crop is a mystery."

Show to feature mysterious crop damage

NEW MILFORD — It's been a few days since a patch of Martha Bailey's corn was mysteriously flattened,
but the strange event is still drawing interest in some circles.
Linda Howe, reporter and editor for the Web site Earthfiles.com, spoke to Bailey on Thursday about the random down that caused a uniform patch of cornstalks in her garden to fall flat in one direction.

Howe, a science, medicine and environmental reporter since 1968, began the site in 1999 as a complement to her radio show which is carried by the Premiere Radio Network, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications.

"It's become a really dominant piece in my life," Howe said. She said her site approaches earthly phenomenon from a factual, not speculative, perspective. "I'm glad it has established a reputation with professional people."
