This is really sad. Cleveland 911 operators recieved several calls Monday morning about a body on the side of the highway. The dispatchers sent police to the area, who drove by at 40 mph and determined the body was a deer carcass. The dispatchers sent ODOT to pick up the dead deer, but it took ODOT insisting it was a dead body to get police officers to take a second look. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/04/cleveland_police_officials_say.html
This happened just after a task force meeting about how to better handle victims of sexual assault, as Anthony Sowell was from Cleveland and one of his victims made a report and nothing was done.
This is the same police force that did nothing when a neighbor saw a 25 year old man being beaten with a baseball bat and thrown into a pickup truck. The man was later found dead.
I understand mistakes happen and that the two police officers involved in the latest incident do feel a great deal of remorse. I can understand why.I know mistakes happen, but it seems that the police department in Cleveland has lost respect for human life. I do think, for the most part, police officers do a great job helping the area they patrol and I respect them totally. It's sad a few bad apples ruin the reputation.
Rest in peace, Angel Bradley-Crockett. Heaven will be a lot better than the life you had on earth. :innocent:
