GUILTY TX - Mother stabbed and paralyzed in City Park goes home

This woman's story of survival and her beautiful attitude has been and is inspiring. While watching her children play in the park a man that felt he wasn't getting enough attention for his mental health issues picked this mother at random and walked up and stabbed her in the back. She has been nothing but positive since.

If you watch this video of her only weeks after this tragedy you will understand why we have such respect and admiration for Brandi Todd. All she says is how awesome everyone else is. Brandi, you are the awesome one!

STEPHENVILLE -- The suspect accused of stabbing a 28-year-old Morgan Mill mother in the back as she sat on a park bench, leaving her paralyzed, has been ruled competent to stand trial. State District Judge Donald Jones made his finding Wednesday in the case of Michael Allen Howard, 43, of Stephenville. He's accused of stabbing Brandi Todd at random in March as she watched her children play in Stephenville City Park. Todd remains paralyzed from the waist down. Howard was in the Erath County Jail with bail set at $750,000. Jones set the trial for Oct. 18. If convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Howard could be sentenced to two to 20 years in prison.

Just after the stabbing a defense psychiatrist said Howard was mentally ill and incompetent. But he changed his opinion Wednesday in court.

Howard will now stand trial in October.

She was finally able to point to her attacker, who was sitting a few feet away from her.

The man is 42-year-old Michael Allen, who has admitted to having mental health issues.

He stands accused of aggravated assault, with a deadly weapon.

This is day two for the prosecutors.

Michael Howard not considered insane at time of stabbing Brandi Todd

They found Howard guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Howard faces up to 20 years in jail.

jmo, he should serve life w/o parole. Howard will ALWAYS be a danger to society. Brandi got a life sentence in a wheelchair for being a wonderful single parent/mother to her children by taking them to the park.

A man accused in the apparently random stabbing of a woman at Stephenville City Park has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Michael Allen Howard

Michael Allen Howard, 43, of Stephenville was convicted Wednesday in the March attack in which a 29-year-old woman's spinal cord was severed.
