Quote: Derrick has not been seen since August 4, 2008, when he went missing in the Newberry area in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

At the time of his disappearance—which is considered suspicious—he was living in a residence along North Manistique Lake Road, south of the village of McMillan and just west of East Lake.

According to witness accounts, he was last seen walking into the bush across from a neighbor's house.

He was reportedly planning on meeting a female friend at a prearranged location in the woods.

When she arrived at the location, Derrick was nowhere to be found. He has not been heard from or seen since.

This is a mystery. He had 2 children by a previous relationship, and one on the way, when he vanished. No car. Derrick was to meet with the woman he was having a baby with in the woods. According to her, he didn't show up. He also had been in some local fights. This woman that was pregnant, also had 2 daughters. Was the father to these daughters in their lives? Any of the local fights involving him?

NEWBERRY — On August 4, 2008, Derrick Ray Henagan was reportedly seen by a friend walking across M-135 in Newberry, into the woods to meet his estranged girlfriend. He was never seen again. Henagan had been staying at his friend Denny Murdock’s house. According to Murdock, Henagan left there around 4 p.m. “Over time. a lot of interviews have been done, scenes checked, searches done, and to this day, there is no information as to where he is,” said Detective Sgt. Richard Rule.
In the days leading up to his disappearance, investigators say Henagan didn’t want to be seen due to an outstanding warrant for traffic violations. Police say he was trying to leave Newberry.
“We thought he’s just going to show up. He’s trying to hide from the law, and he’ll show up down state. He’ll get arrested, contacted by law enforcement; at this point, three years later, Derrick Henagan is missing, because something happened,” Rule explains.
Investigators now question if Henagan really made it into those woods. Why? Because his estranged girlfriend claims she never went to meet him there.
This leads Rule to speculate, was there an accident? Was there some kind of misuse of drugs? Was there an overdose? Did something happen that led to his demise at that residence?”
Rule says he believes those questions can be answered.
“Someone knows. People have come forward, have provided information, maybe only partial information. I think that’s the difficult part, that we don’t have evidence, we don’t have it…right now.”
If you have any information about what happened to Derek Ray Henagan, you are asked to contact the Michigan State Police immediately at (906) 293-5152 .

I found this petition online Sign the Petition that was started by Wheres Derrick Henagan it states: There has never been a proper search done for our son Derrick Henagan by the Michigan State Police, They have NEVER issued any search warrants on either residence that Derrick Henagan was last known to be at, And Betty was told by the Prosecutor that the guy had his reasons for them to not issue a search warrant. The family has been told by the Prosecutor that they would have to wait till after deer hunting season for him to do anything ( almost 4 years later and 4 deer season's still nothing).Betty Henagan was recently told by the Prosecutor that SHE needed to offer immunity because the next Prosecutor will not do nothing with THIER son's case. Derrick Henagan has children and they deserve to know what happen to their father, Derrick Henagan's parents deserve to know what happen to Thier son. Also we have been told they will not follow up on tips unless they are told whom the tips are from to check creditably, then why does crime stoppers say they can remain anonymous? All we want is answer's for The disappearance of our son Derrick Henagan, Please sign our petition and help us hold all of those mentioned accountable. This isn't the first time a petition has been done to get justice and a proper investigation in Newberry Michigan, Luce County.
