CASSELMAN, ON, May 5 /CNW/ - It has been 35 years and the Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) has not identified the victim of a brutal murder. The
OPP investigative team, led by Detective Inspector Guy Faucher, Criminal
Investigation Branch (CIB), are releasing an updated composite of what the
police believe the victim may have looked like.
On May 3, 1975, a local farmer found the body of a female floating in the
Nation River, near Highway 417 in Casselman.
Police believe that the victim, known as the "Nation River Lady" was
thrown from the west bound Highway 417 lane bridge at the Nation River.
When found, the unidentified victim was clad only in an undershirt and
carried no identification. A television cable was wrapped around her neck,
her hands and feet were bound with neckties. A tea towel and other clothes
were wrapped around her head.
The post mortem examination revealed that at some point during her life,
the deceased had her appendix removed.
