Tybee,
I just heard that the two teenage girls who killed one's grandparents were caught on Tybee Island in a beach house! Whoa! I'll bet you guys don't get a lot of that in your easy going beach town! I was just speaking to someone yesterday about how seldom it seems that girls commit violent crimes in comparison to boys. The ratio may be closing in!! What a horrible story.

This has been allover the news up here where I'm from. I cant imagine why anybody would want to do something like this. Obviously some disturbed youth.

BTW... SarieBell, very good picture of the beach wedding. Always wanted one myself. Maybe one day ;-) But nevertheless, you two look very happy. Congratulations

Girls held in killings of teen's grandparents

Carl and Sarah Collier lost a daughter to drugs and crime. They apparently died trying to save their granddaughter from the same fate.

With their daughter in prison on a drug conviction, the elderly couple took in their granddaughter, Holly Ann Harvey, and tried to rein in the troubled, rebellious 15-year-old.

"It's been heartbreak after heartbreak," said Frank Ellis, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville, which the couple attended. "They were desperate to put structure into the girl's life."

On Monday evening, the tension apparently bubbled over between the couple and their granddaughter. The girl and a friend, police say, stabbed the grandparents to death in their north Fayette County home.

Carl Collier, 75, was found in the kitchen; Sarah Collier, 73, in the basement. She put up a fearful fight and was stabbed at least 15 times, investigators said. Police say the killings were premeditated.

"I've never seen a crime this serious or this gruesome in 28 years of service," said Fayette County Sheriff Randall Johnson, who had known the Colliers for nearly 40 years. "These people were kin." --->>

Police started looking for the girls about 6:30 Monday night, when a friend called 911 after the two girls showed up at her home in Griffin to change out of bloody clothes, police said.--->>

On several occasions this summer, Harvey threatened to kill her grandparents, once as recently as last week, said Kevin Collier, the couple's son.

"They were concerned," he said. "They weren't sure what she was capable of."

Collier said his niece had a romantic relationship with Ketchum, one that her conservative Baptist grandparents discouraged.

She also had been running away, causing her grandparents to file a missing person report and to bring her to Juvenile Court last week, where she was sentenced to three months' probation, Collier said.

Holly's mother, Carla Harvey, 37, is in Metro State Prison in Atlanta, serving a three-year sentence for marijuana possession, according to Department of Corrections records.

Holly moved in with her grandparents after her mother went to prison in April.

This is an absolutely horrible case. I'm wondering however, about the girl's mother. It said that she's in prison for three years for "marajuana possession." Does that seem odd?

It gets worse.

Police said Thursday they found a chilling "to do" list scrawled on the arm of a 15-year-old girl arrested in the stabbing deaths of her grandparents: kill, keys, money, jewelry.
Holly Harvey allegedly recruited her 16-year-old lesbian lover to help kill Carl and Sarah Collier in their suburban Atlanta home Monday, said Lt. Col. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
He said the elderly couple, with whom Harvey lived, had ordered her to stop seeing the girl, Sandy Ketchum, and to stop using drugs.
"I believe the evidence at trial will be that the motive was to gain freedom and be able to stay together forever," he said.
When the girls were arrested Tuesday at a beach house on the Georgia coast, police found the to-do list written in ink on Harvey's arm along with three bloody knives and the girls' bloodstained clothes
~~~~~~~~~~The two will be tried as adults on charges including murder and armed robbery.
Police described Harvey as "stone cold" and a "manipulator" who allegedly persuaded Ketchum to sneak into the Colliers' home Sunday and hide under a bed with a knife until the grandparents, both in their 70s, were lured into the bedroom and attacked.
Both were stabbed more than 15 times.
The girls allegedly smoked marijuana just before the slayings
~~~~~~When the girls were arrested at the home of two boys they'd met on Tybee Island, Harvey laughed at the more than 25 arresting officers.
"She was callous and cocky. She is the coldest and most heartless individual I've ever interviewed. It almost made her giddy to know we had brought that many people to arrest her," Jordan said.
He said Harvey has not cooperated with investigators but Ketchum has. Jordan said the older girl strictly "was in it for the love."
On Thursday, the girls were escorted into court together, wearing bulletproof vests with their hands cuffed in front of them. Both sniffled as the charges were read.
Harvey's world "has been turned upside down. She still appears to be in shock," said Judy Chidester, her court-appointed lawyer. "She's acting like a scared 15-year-old, which is exactly what she is."

She probably got probabtion and violated so had to serve her sentence. That or was a multiple offender.

A grand jury will meet in September to consider an indictment against two teenage girls accused of killing a retired Fayette County couple.

Sixteen-year-old Sandra Ketchum and 15-year-old Holly Harvey have been charged as adults in the Aug. 2 deaths of Harvey's grandparents, Sarah and Carl Collier. The Colliers were laid to rest after funeral services in Fayetteville Monday.

The district attorney's office will present its case to the grand jury on Sept. 15. If the girls are indicted, the case will move on to the pre-trial phase.

In this day, who lets 2 strangers (the 2 teen-age girls) spend the night in their home?

Its Tybee Island, I have had perfect strangers crash here plenty of times. Alot of people rent spare rooms out to tourists. I can not tell you how many times I have woken up to my son having 10 people crashed in chairs around the pool after a late night on the beach. Its just a different mindset here. Nobody is a stranger.

Hey, I've been to Tybee Island just a couple of years ago. If I had known... We could have stayed with a local instead of driving all the way back to Ft Stewart. Dang it.

LOL next time just knock on a few doors. Someone will take you in. If you are carrying a 12 pack of cold corona will probably only take knocking on 1 door.

Two teenage girls accused of stabbing one of the girls' grandparents to death pleaded guilty Thursday to murder during a court hearing, ending a case that garnered national headlines.

Holly Harvey, 15, was sentenced to two life sentences in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of malice murder. Because of her age, she was not eligible for the death penalty. She will not be eligible for parole until after she serves 20 years in prison.

Sandy Ketchum, 16, who has been described as Holly's lover, was sentenced to serve three life sentences to be served consecutively.
