Skippy does not seem too smart. Public file sharing program? I guess he forgot that most of us DO judge when it comes to this heinous crime. I'd like to know where he got the images. Hopefully all contacts with children have been thoroughly checked out. Hillsboro is a suburb of Portland filled with families.

Hillsboro man caught with more than 1 million child *advertiser censored* images faces long prison term

"A year ago, an undercover FBI agent in Maryland logged into a public file sharing program during an Internet probe of child *advertiser censored* and got an instant message.

"Feel free to browse, and take what u like," wrote someone using the screen name "Skippy20." "I do not judge, please do not judge me."

Apparently agents did judge Skippy20, whom they identified in court papers as Dewey S. Burr of Hillsboro. Burr, 51, pleaded guilty to distributing child *advertiser censored*....."

and

"Government court papers allege that federal agents seized computers and digital storage devices from Burr's Hillsboro apartment, later finding that they held more than 1 million images of child *advertiser censored*.

"This is believed to be the largest number of images of child *advertiser censored*, in a single case, that has been prosecuted through the United States Attorney's Office in the District of Oregon....."

and

The images included a naked girl, 8 to 10 years old, kneeling on a bed with a butcher knife held to her throat. Other images showed children in bonds or having sex with adults.

One can only sincerely hope he will get significantly more than the 5 year minimum. They like to act like *advertiser censored* is a victimless crime, but its not. We just don't always know who the victims are unfortunately. Every time I see one of these cases, I can't help but wonder how much effort LE is putting into finding out who the children are. I imagine it is like finding a needle in a haystack, so I'm not saying that in a bad way. I do hope LE is doing everything they can to identify victims and get them to safety.

Please read the comments to Missizzy's article, especially sstelepro July 26, 2010 at 6:02pm. This *person* knows their opinion is not "politically correct" but feels that we are wasting taxpayer dollars prosecuting someone who is indulging their "kinky fixation" on children....."But downloading and sharing pictures no matter how vile or perverted should NOT be a crime"

I SOOOOOO DO NOT AGREE sstelepro!!!!

Does everybody realize that this reaction is considered acceptable in Japan. Yes, they are reconsidering their position but still....

Concerning the issue of child *advertiser censored* in Japan:

http://www.loc.gov/law/help/child-rights/japan.php

"...The provisions penalizing child *advertiser censored* are also deficient and do not fulfill the international law standards, since they do not penalize the possession, import, export, sale, or offer of child pornographic material. Nor is the distribution of such material through the Internet or other virtual means of communication penalized...."

I was thoroughly shocked when this came to my attention a couple of years ago, especially when you consider the compacts which Japan adheres to. Whom do they think the photos are of? Do people's sick minds NOT open up far enough to consider who that little child is, who is being raped and traumatized? I don't get it at all.

Sounds like that poster feels the same way. After all, it's just fantasy, right? No harm done. Good as new. Here's an ice cream cone.

YUCK!!!!

um, I think LE needs to be alerted to that person commenting

and that person needs to hear from a few victims as to whether they think it should be a crime or not

what an idiot (both skippy & the commenter)

Wow, several dumb ignorant comments there. "Punishing the addict instead of the dealer"?? Really?! What do they think LE is going to do with all these files? Go after the next higher on the perv chain, that's what! And I hope they get them all...how sickening.

You know, I loathe reading comments under news articles. Totally despise it. But I have really had my eyes opened. I think everyone needs to stop and think a moment that real live human beings take the time to post their opinions on these sites. We can't just off-handedly discount them as being wackos (although IMO, they are). These are the very same people who stand in front of us at the bank, mow their lawn next door and drive our school buses. Opinions are certainly not necessarily actions but they do provide us with an unvarnished view of the opinions of the American citizen. These opinions are also what drive votes.

I find them repugnant. I'm sure most here on WS do also. But they can't be denied. People sit in the comfort and privacy of their homes and truly typed out these misguided and criminal thoughts. It scares me to death. We have so much more education to do.

Mr. Burr (Skippy) has been sentenced. One point I'd like to make is that many commenters on news articles concerning child *advertiser censored* don't seem to grasp what child *advertiser censored* is. While I am sure that some images found are similar to the Parent Magazine photo, a shot of a naked child with genitalia shown, most are far more than that.

The images which are being increasingly found show children being raped and tortured. There is a disturbing uptick in sadistic images. I don't know if these images were shown in the old "kiddie *advertiser censored*" magazines (I hate that term), purchased by mail, but somehow I don't think so.

I truly believe that child *advertiser censored*, like so many other elements in the way our society views sexuality, is becoming more violent. Humans are being desensitized IMO. And that only spells more misery for children. Try to wrap your mind around that number, 1.1 million images. How are they going to find any of the victims?

Dewey Burr of Hillsboro pleaded guilty last March to distribution of child *advertiser censored*.
