The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in finding a missing Jefferson County man.
According to family members, 53 year-old Steve Buchanan went missing July 20.
Scarlet Buchanan, Steve's daughter, said her father played pool with buddies that night until 6:30 p.m. Her dad then planned to go racoon hunting around 11:30 p.m. in the Dandridge or Deep Springs area.
"We don't know if he actually went coon hunting or not. All of his hunting stuff is gone," Scarlet explained.
Steve's two Walker Coonhounds are missing as well. One hound is black with white spots and the other one is red.
Buchanan's two vehicles were missing too, but were eventually found by investigators. The two vehicles are described as an early 90's silver Buick and a green hunting truck with dog crates in the back.
Scarlet hopes someone remembers spotting her dad, his vehicles or coonhounds that night or later.
"I think someone hurt him," the daughter said. "I know that he would've contacted someone by now and he hasn't. I think he could be in the mountains or in the water."
She describes her dad as fun and outgoing. Steve Buchanan is a father of two, grandfather of three, Navy veteran and a professional boxing coach.
"I miss him more than anything. He was my heart, my soul," Scarlet said.
TBI said investigators have conducted interviews but have no leads.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any information concerning the case.
The family is asking that you call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office if you have any information in Buchanan's whereabouts at (865) 471-6000.
