Wouldn't it be relatively easy to determine whether DR attended school at the Abbey? Do they have old year books in their school library perhaps (if someone is local they might be able to find this out).... I wonder if police have already made such determination?

If he went to the Abbey, or worked there, or was an alterboy (family is ultra religious according to several online sites, and forums).... then it may be more likely that he did suffer or witness some horrors of abuse....

The schools are called The College of St. Benedict (both sexes) and St. John's University (males), and the Abbey is at the same location in Collegeville, MN. The schools are well-known and well-respected today, but the Abbey has a bit of a mark. I believe this has been discussed before, but here's a link and info for you.

As a young boy growing up in St. Joseph, Minnesota and later, an an employee at St. John’s University and tutor at St. John’s Prep School, Daniel A Rassier had contact with several monks from St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Daniel Rassier is also an adjunct music professor at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, holding the position since 1997, a spokeswoman said.

What of the retreat cabin? How would anyone know who had been there and when, besides the multiple victims listed in the article, and still we don't know who was among the visitors. Seems pretty isolated. Could Jacob or Joshua have been taken there? Questions.

The cabin on Swenson Lake is owned by St. John’s Abbey as a place for vacations and retreats for the monks in the Benedictine monastery.

Wonderful thoughts. I wonder if LE has investigated this.

Would they let LE do that? Didn't it take 5 days for them to allow LE to search the Abbey for Josh Guimond?

that's a lot of murderers for such a small city, isn't it? What the heck?

Well, the Reker girls were from St. Cloud, not St. Joseph. But yeah, a lot of unsolved ones anyway - makes you wonder about the investigators - you know, the ones who were good friends with the senior Rassiers.

Jacob is moving down the page, so I am bringing him back up.

So, what really is happening?

"One law enforcement official with knowledge of the case said investigators did not search the house. He also said that, to his knowledge, they found nothing of interest on the property."

It sure would be nice to hear something. The article you linked was older, dated July 2nd. This article from July 26th, say they did find items of interest. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Interesting article about a prime suspect in the Reker murders.

Eckroth is a nut case. I am quite familiar with the Abbey.According to information from other monks, he always denied sexually assaulting the children he molested, and they have proof from the victims themselves, that it was him. He is currently in the health center with dementia. It's such a tragedy.

Most long-time residents of St. Cloud remember the Reker cases. I really hope someone solves this case before their parents leave this world.

However, I just don't think the Reker case has a connection to Jacob. The Rekers were female, and most sexual predators don't cross over. The assumption is that Jacob was accosted by a sexual predator, which could be off the mark, of course. If evidence against DR isn't found, I guess we're back to square one, which could mean anything goes.

some perps do switch. They do whatever is convenient.

Although I do not think Jacob and the Rekers are by the same perp.

That was interesting, I had no idea they had 2 suspects in the Reker girls' murders. I tried finding who Mr. X might be and found this helpful site which lists various serial killers. I'll put the link here in case anyone can use it for some other case, altho I agree the Reker case probably had nothing to do with Jacob's case. http://www.crimezzz.net/

I agree on it being a tragedy, Celticthyme, moreso because St. John's covered all this up for so many years. If they'd dealt with it right away, maybe there wouldn't be so many unsolved crimes.
