Three days after her disappearance investigators questioned Andre Rand. But they were unable to bring charges due to lack of witnesses and evidence. Tiahease's mother also told investigators a man fitting Rand's description often hung out in a van in a parking lot near the motel.

    Two percent.

After disappearing a quarter of a century ago, that paltry figure represents the likelihood Tiahease Jackson is still alive, said an official from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

On Aug. 14, 1983, the 10-year-old girl left her home at the Conca D'Oro Motel in Mariners Harbor to buy chicken wings for a neighbor.

Etan Patz is Not Alone: 15 Missing Child Cases in NYC Remain Unsolved

Tiahease Jackson, 10, vanished on Aug. 14, 1983, after she left her home on Staten Island to buy chicken wings for a neighbor. According to reports, police believe she may have fallen prey to Andre Rand, a convicted kidnapper and sexual offender who hunted for victims on the streets of Staten Island in the 1970s and '80s. But no one has ever proved it.

Does anyone know what can be done when Doe Network says DNA available and NamUs says "Sample not available"? Does that mean it was collected by LE but isn't entered in the national database?

    Has anyone encountered this before?
